  • Food writer and health blogger Liz Moody once followed trendy diets and ate solely for fuel, not for flavor. That changed when she met her soon-to-be-boyfriend and they started cooking nutrient- and vegetable-rich meals. She not only fell in love with food again, but she also discovered that setting goals and sticking to them is easier and more gratifying when paired with someone else. Mincing garlic and sautéing onions together eventually led the couple to marriage—proving that good food really is the universal connector! These 100+ flavor-packed recipes are designed to be cooked and enjoyed by two people, plus they’re all gluten-free, dairy-free, and plant-centered. They include homemade alternatives for all the foods you love to share, such as brunch, takeout, and sweet treats. Indulge in Cardamom Banana Bread Pancakes with Candied Coffee Walnuts, Cornflake “Fried” Chicken, General Tso’s Cauliflower, and Chocolate Tahini Brownie Bites. Pick your partner—near or far—and get ready to get healthy.

Easily adapted but undoubtedly delicious exactly as written

First, let me just say that Liz herself is a magical human and this book perfectly encapsulates the joy and positivity she radiates. Having cooked alongside many lovely lives--from my great-grandmother and mother-in-law to my godfather and my dad as well as some of my closest friends--I can honestly say that leafing through this absolute treasure brings all those memories flooding back. Furthermore, the simplicity of the ingredients Liz has worked her behind off to ensure lend themselves very well to adaptation. To be completely honest, I haven't cooked anything from this cookbook exactly as its written because I'm an itty-bit scatterbrained and have always forgotten to pick up at least one listed ingredient from each recipe that I've made; however, I trust the craft and have so much as quadrupled the size of one of the soups in order to feed my large soup-loving family. On this occasion, each of my twins not only had seconds but again asked for the soup the next day for lunch--because it was so delicious, so filling and because we had leftovers! That might not seem like a big deal but it means a lot considering my guys usually lament eating leftovers of any kind!

Fun cookbook with creative healthy recipes

This cookbook is tons of fun to flip through, and Liz does a great job at making healthy food taste delicious. It takes the guilt out of a lot of my guilty pleasures (healthy chocolate cookies, anyone?) and is just a joy to cook with. I also appreciate that pretty much every ingredient in here is easy to find in a local grocery store!! Would recommend it to anyone looking for some inspiration in the kitchen.

Highly Recommend

I write about 2 reviews per decade, but this book warrants a review. Liz is a delightful, smart, and entertaining writer. These recipes meet all my needs (of which there are many!) while still allowing me to feed my family delicious food. So grateful to have this book on my shelf. It is heavily dog-eared and perfectly stained with avocado oil at this point. If you love food and feeling happy, buy this book.

Fun, Easy and Healthy Recipes---My New Fave

This cookbook is just delightful, from the author's tone to the ease and appeal of the recipes to the newness of it all. I own a lot of cookbooks, but this one has so much stuff in it I want to make that *also* feels like things I haven't tried before: a Kombucha spritz, Salted Caramel Crack Popcorn, General Tso's Cauliflower. I entertain a decent amount and I like that there are options here that feel healthy yet aren't at all joyless and are clearly guest-worthy. I so appreciate when I go to a party and there are veggie or low-carb options, and this has it all. Brava!

The Pages Ooze with Excitement

I'm so thrilled to get my hands on this cookbook and to read it cover-to-cover (and of course to share with others in the kitchen), the pages ooze with excitement and authenticity! Liz leaves no stone unturned and it's a relief to know that she's done all the research and testing to know what works. From the recipes I've read so far, she goes beyond the usual recipe formula to give some much appreciated insider tips.
