Description

About the Author John Woodbery, Seattle trial lawyer and novelist, draws upon his experiences growing up in Florida to relate the mystic tales that rise out of the heat and humidity there to grow characters with the richness and smokiness of fine-cured tobacco.

Features & Highlights

  • Dr. Horatio Averill Blake, noted Florida anthropologist whose life was rerouted with the tragic deaths of his mother and father, confronts the consequences of his actions in affecting the destiny of an ancient South American indigenous tribe. The ramifications of tragedy upon tragedy force the egotistical adventurer to choose between the truth or the loss of even more. A magic idol, voices from the afterlife, and his own flesh and blood lead the scientist dubbed ‘Montana’ down a trail never before explored to a destination that logic cannot foretell.

Entertaining Adventure Tale With Depth

I reviewed this book for my local book club. If you like an adventure tale accompanied by psychological exploration of characters you will love this book. It is a page-turner and hard to put down. The book not only entertains, but leaves the reader with something about which to ponder, as it explores the nature of man and his spirituality. You will travel to the Amazon in your imagination and interact with a primative Indian tribe. The contrast of man within a primative state and modern man's experience is haunting.
