I Have a Dream (Book & CD)

It doesn't seem right; that we can go into a bookstore and find a book whose artwork should be in a museum and whose words should be between leather bound covers. Anyone with a brain knows of Dr. King's speech, and anyone with a soul has had it stirred when they hear it. Kadir Nelson takes one of the most iconic speeches in the history of us and combines it with artwork that can only be described as 'soul candy'.

Why? Because it is just that. My parent's generation will smile and bear witness that they were blessed to live during the time of this amazing man. My generation will be grateful and a bit jealous that we missed the living era of Martin. My children's generation can only hope that there will be a man anywhere close to the person that was Dr. King.

Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech will obviously stand out but the other treat is Kadir's mesmerizing artwork. The cover of this book tells you exactly what you'll see on the inside. His work is moving, spiritual, inspiring, stunning, timeless, and historic.

This book is an annotated version of Dr. King's speech in concert with Kadir's afore mentioned soulful artwork. This book also comes with a CD that has Dr. King's complete speech on it AND the entire speech is printed at the end of this book as well. Dr. King's legacy and his speech have been used by everyone; and not all of it good. Dr. King's legacy really doesn't need any embellishment or added fluff. The memorial in Washington (FINALLY) and this book are two instances where it IS needed. And welcomed. Now please understand that I don't mean to compare the memorial with this book, it's just that in a world where there are countless Dr. King highways, youth centers, t-shirts, coffee mugs, posters, and parks, it's nice to have two shining examples of a true representation of Dr. King's legacy.

But unlike the memorial you won't have to travel to Washington to enjoy this book. Your local bookstore will do.

Our baby is due to be delivered by cesarean on MLK Day 2019. Since I want to raise a baby that will fight for justice and equality I ordered this book to teach our child the significance of the day he/she was born. This book is so beautifully illustrated! It is his speech, word-for-word and also comes with a CD of the speech! I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase!!

This picture book is one of the most beautiful picture books we've read. Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech is, of course, beautiful and powerful. I'm so happy the book includes a digital copy of the speech and all of the speech text in the back of the book. The you combine those inspiring words with these AMAZING illustrations. The illustrator has an incredible gift for capturing intense, expressive, *real* emotion. The angles and images he chose to illustrate fit this just perfectly.

As an adult, I'm inspire every time I read it. But, it doesn't just capture my attention. My children adore exploring the photographs at every read through.

Gorgeous pictures. I love the illustrations. I love that the entire I Have A Dream speech is written out in the back pages. I purchased this book used, and it came without a cd.

The recording of this famous speech is very good quality and brings tears to your eyes just listening to it. The book is very good and the illustrations are beautiful.

I'm a teacher and read this book every year to my fifth grade students. It is actually written so that much younger students can understand it, but I love using it as a springboard for more advanced lessons on race and prejudice. I purchased several extra copies to give to my young nieces and nephews last February, because it is such a well-written, insightful book.

Purchased for my Uncle for his 77th birthday. He asked for this specifically. From what I was told he loves everything about it and listens to the CD often. He said he had no idea the book would be so detailed.

He's out of state, so I can't see what he's talking about, but I know he was very pleased.

Being a grandfather, I read the book to my Grandchildren! They were in awe listening the story and the words.
