My 11 year old boy gives two thumbs up!!

I bought this for my 11 year old son who loves historic fiction. He has blown through each of the I Survived books as they have come out and loved each one. I love that he gets excited about reading them!! It can be hard to find engaging books for boys that aren't science fiction. My only wish is that they could release more soon!!

Good reading material for young people

Very informational at a good reading level. Our grandson got hooked on these I Survived series and has really enjoyed the way they are written. He is older than the usual reading age level of 11, but is always telling us about the things he has learned by reading each book. I highly recommend this series.

Awesome for all Ages!

My 9 yo daughter has loved the I Survived series for a few years now. Truth be told, I do too.

The stories are always about a kid (usually 11yo) who lives through historical disasters, and we learn about those disasters through his/her eyes.

The tales are well-written and include facts- as well as historical fiction to hold the audience’s attention.

They are exciting and sad; gripping and profound; tragic and heartwarming. You can always count on the main kid-character surviving...but not always the other people in the story.

Your child and you will certainly come away with the intended morals:
*War is Hell. (D day, Pearl Harbor, Gettysburg, American Revolution, Civil War etc)
*People can be evil: (Hitler, 9/11, maybe in a few years, Trump will be a subject of one of her books)
*The newest inventions aren’t always the best: (Titanic, Hindenburg)
Don’t turn your back on nature: (Tsunamis, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes, fires, floods)
Animals are wild; don’t turn your back on them either:: (sharks, grizzlies)
And molasses is...well. We are reading that one next.

Really can not recommend enough.

My 10 year old reluctant reader LOVES these books!

My 10 year old son was a very late reader, and getting him to voluntarily read ANYTHING was like pulling teeth. These books....the entire series...is a completely different story (no pun intended). These books put the child into a (albeit fictionalized) historical event. Not only are they interesting to my son, but each book in the series is a history lesson in itself. This series causes my son to ask some very thought provoking questions about 9/11, the Vietnam War, the Third Reich and, in this case, the Hindenburg. Each has been a "teachable moment" (I don't like cliches, but this one fits) and gave us a chance to dispel some misconceptions/misperceptions my son had about important events in history. My son just started reading this one today, and he's already 3/4 of the way through. It makes me smile to see him actually excited about the books and reading, and actually ASKING me to buy more! I'm thankful we found these books. If you have a child who is less than enthusiastic about reading, try one of these books, it might change everything.

Fantastic Series For My 9-year Old

My 9-year old boy is obsessed with these books! I was very happy to get it for him and it shipped quickly. I asked him how the book was and he said, "I looooooved it!". I don't think there has been even one from this series that he hasn't loved. These books cover some fairly scarey situations for little kids, but as the title states, "I Survived". I think my son likes reading about something that scares him, but knowing the character will survive and gather strength from the situation. I hope, if anything, it will help teach my son to find strength in his own life when bad things happen.
