Illicit Intent (Bishop Security Series)

I can't believe this is only the second book from this author. I read where she wrote a TV pilot but WOW...this needs to be made into a movie. I read it in 2 nights. I am trying to reach her to visit our book club (virtually of course). Anyway, it's amazing and I suggest it 10/10.

Debbie Baldwin does it again! I could not wait to read this after False Front (although they do not need to be read in order). The plot has lots of twists and turns and I love the authenticity of the descriptions of my hometown New York City. I hope to get the author to speak at my book club on Zoom - or in person if I can entice her to NYC! Brava Debbie. Please hurry and write the next one!

I am in love!!! Tox is the book boyfriend I’ve been waiting for. Who doesn’t live a 6’5” Navy SEAL with abandonment issues? The plot of this book is so intricate and well thought out, I was amazed the author could intertwine the stories into one fabulous payoff at the end. This book is head and shoulders above anything I have read in the genre recently. Bravo! Bring on book 3!!!

I'm usually not a romance reader but guys, this isn't your ordinary romance. Thriller, romance, spice, what?! I know I got you intrigued 😏 Fast paced with twists and turns that sneak up on you, that you won't be able to put the book down. In the beginning it felt slow but I usually feel like that when there's a bunch of characters I'm meeting but once past that, you won't want to put it down. Make sure to check out False Front (book 1 in there series) and be on the look out for Buried Beneath (book 3).

Debbie Baldwin, the author of “Illicit Intent” has written a captivating, steamy, edgy, and action-filled novel. The genres for this book are Suspense, Mystery, Heated Romance, and Fiction. The timeline is written in the author’s present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters or events in the story. The author describes her characters as complex, and complicated. I highly recommend this intriguing, high-powered adventure and mystery for readers that enjoy these genres. I love the way the author vividly describes her “alpha males” and other characters. Of course, there is a loveable dog, and a moody cat, for animal lovers.

Be prepared for some suspenseful surprises that I certainly did not see. Not everyone is who you will think they are. There are plot twists, danger, betrayals, art theft, lost money, threats, and murder!

Calliope Garland, one of the protagonists in the story is looking into something for her newspaper, and investigating information that puts her in immediate danger, and in touch with some interesting characters. She is now on a “Hit List” for several people that want to kill her. What a way to be popular! When she leaves she bumps into a man “Tox” which is very important to Calliope and the events in the story.

There are several suspects, much danger, anticipation, and surprises that you won’t want to miss!

Debbie Baldwin is a fantastic author! She is a new-to-me author and one I will read again! This novel had me on a roller coaster ride. I was up long into the night, riding waves of twists and turns!

Calliope is a perfectly chiseled character! I found my heart pounding more often than as I followed her story, piecing together the clues, and seeing just who was after her. Enter Tox into the story and be still! I fell in love! He was absolutely amazing and seeing him and Calliope together really had me falling further into the story!

This novel of ups and downs, twists and turns, is one you won’t want to miss. It’s book 2 in Baldwin’s Bishop Security series but it’s easily grasped, and not confusing at all. I am very much looking forward to going back and reading book 1 and adding it to my shelf to keep with this one.

Hats off and two thumbs up go to Debbie Baldwin for this awesomely penned, 4 star, wild ride! I can’t wait to read more!
