A Great Children's Book!

"It is my desire to have these tiny precious souls-so many of whom have brought so much joy into my life as they listened to my stories-close this book and feel so good about themselves that they feel in their hearts that nothing is impossible for them. It would be even more thrilling for me if this becomes the book they choose each night...so that a special person-like you-can read it to them over and over again." - From the introduction

Renowned author Wayne Dyer has distilled his 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace into a children's book titled Incredible You! 10 Ways to Let Your Greatness Shine Through. Co-written with Kristina Tracy and illustrated by Melanie Siegel, this colorful uplifting book affirms and encourages children to imagine, explore, and expect beauty in all its forms.

The 10 Ways to Let Your Greatness Shine Through are:

1. Share the Good

2. Find What You Love

3. You are Filled with Love

4. Find a Quiet Place Inside

5. Make Today Great!

6. Change Your Thoughts to Good

7. Take Care of Yourself

8. Picture What You Want

9. Everyone Is Special, Especially You

10. Good Thoughts Give You Energy

This wonderful book isn't saccharine "just think happy thoughts". Dyer addresses challenges such as ridicule. Under #7 Take Care of Yourself it says:

"If something or someone makes you feel bad,

don't let it ruin your day by making you sad.

Let go of the hurt and take care of you.

You can't control what others say or do."

The first picture shows two girls whispering and laughing at a third girl, while the second picture shows the girl happily playing in her room as the other two look through the window. She has chosen to play with her toys and enjoy herself-by herself.

Incredible You! contains sage advice for both children and adults. At the end of the book are ten questions designed to encourage children to ponder the ideas presented therein. For example, one question is "It's important to make time for the things you love. Do you have a passion? Something you love to do more than anything else?"

My son answers "play with trains!" to this one. He really enjoyed it when I read the story to him and asked him the questions in the back. In fact, I had this book among a pile of others that I was going to review. He purposefully walked over the stack one day and removed this book so he could look at it on his own! I've reviewed quite a few children's books and he's never done this before. So my 7 year old gives Incredible You! an enthusiastic thumbs up, as does his Mom!

A Wonderful Way to Help Children Grow Up Realizing Their Greatness

I recently purchased Wayne Dyer's "Whole Kit & Kaboddle" from my local public television station - a set that included several great books, CD's & a DVD - all around the subject of inspiration. Included in this set was Mr. Dyer's latest children's book, "Incredible You!".

Since I've read nearly all of this author's previous works, I was excited to see what his first childrens book would be like. And, I have to say that I absolutely love it!

"Incredible You!" is a great book for parents & children to go through together (so the parents have a chance to elaborate on each of the 10 lessons, helping their children to see the many ways that each may show up in their lives). Each lesson is discussed in a short, rhyming manner, and has awesome illustrations to boot!

Some of the lessons include:

"You Are Filled With Love"

"Find A Quiet Place Inside"

"Make Today Great"

"Change Your Thoughts to Good"

"Take Care of Yourself"

At the end of the book are several great questions that parents can use as a starting-point for discussing each lesson further.

This book would make a great gift! In fact, I plan to give it to all of the children in my life for their birthdays this year.

WONDERFUL!!! MUST HAVE!!

This beautiful book is near and dear to my heart. It is filled with positive words and ideas that will help our children feel good about themselves. In a world that is always trying to be politically correct, I find it refreshing that this book addresses the idea of "God" or a higher being - it helps to know that you are not alone! I love it, my children love it - it is a must have for anyone with children!!

Contains religious references

Wish I had known it contained religious references... I wouldn’t have purchased it. I’ll have to gift it to a friend, I guess. It’s too bad because it’s a good book. I wish I could somehow erase those lines.

A Must Have Book!!!

This is a wonderful book that needs to be out in the world. It's message is so important for the young, and the old who may not be familiar with these awesome principles. Definitely, words to live by.

I want it out there so much that I gave everyone I could think of a copy for Christmas. Everyone loved it as much as I did.

My friend went to read it to her son and he told her that his teacher had read it to the class that day and had them journal their thoughts of the book. Another teacher told me she was going to have her third grade class make their own book probably from the questions at the end of the book. All of my friends were so grateful to receive the book and many have told me how much they and their children have enjoyed reading it and how it has touched their lives.

I love listening to the thoughts of my own children whenever we read the book together.

What a wonderful place the world would be if everyone read this book and lived by its principles!

Wonderful, wonderful book!!

This was bought for my 8 yr old daughter. I also bought his other great childrens book Unstoppable Me. These books teach children great leesons on how to be themselves. To think, act, and decide things for themselves. My daughter is a very positive girl, but when something bothers her, she keeps at it for a while. After reading these books a few times, I noticed an even more positive child. She comes home from school saying her day was great and she didn't let anyone bother her. If you are on the fence about buying this book, jump down and put in your cart right away!!

Targeting New Age Hooey to Your Babies

This book might mention "God", but it leads children (and adults) to believe they are their own gods. (So why do bad things happen to good people even if they think positive and are "good"? Face it, no matter how much New Age self-help you indulge in, it will not ultimately save you or help you live forever.)

I was given a copy of this book for my kids. Looked benign, but I read through it myself first before reading it to them. It's got a feel-good message to it that lacks deeper wisdom of the REAL world and REAL solutions to the world's problems, even at the close community level. It's dangerous New Age poison packaged sweetly for children. Satan wants your children too, you know. This subtle, seemingly sweet and positive book is a wolf in sheep's clothes.

Everything about this book tells your child, "The world revolves around you." Does it really? People, you do not have to love yourself before you love someone else. The world would be better off if we concentrated on others instead of ourselves. . .

Sure, I want to teach my children they are loved unconditionally and help them to see the true fount from which self-esteem comes, but this book is not it. The self-help, New Age books from this publisher are making someone rich at the expense of our common desperation to find answers and unconditional love.

I threw this in the garbage without showing it to my children. I'd prefer reading some real character builders that entertain and challenge my kids to think and act than read them this oversimplified New Age poison.

Straight in the trash.

*** Edited on 8/5/2016 I just re-read my review of this book, and I stand by my words. The individuals who gifted this book to me are guilty of emotionally abusing my husband, myself and our children. They are very self-centered, prideful people. They follow this nonsense and believe they are morally superior simply by their "good works" and "goodness". The culprit of their narcissism and pride have to do with the fact they derive their self-esteem and feelings of worth & superiority from their "good works" and "goodness". . . it is a faulty morality as it requires one to internally remain in a state of having to win, keep others down and beneath them, etc. in order to feel good about themselves. Christianity does not call for self-hatred, as some replying to my review have alleged, but it does call for humility.

Furthermore, the individuals who replied to me here have generally attacked me personally without knowing me intimately. I find these replies to me abusive, arrogant, and narrow-minded about my own points of view (which are very valid). Unless you think like these Dyer-ites and worship their dead holy prophet or his ghostwriter, Mrs. Tracy, then you are not welcome to voice your opinion because disagreeing with these people is "hateful", "self-hatred", etc. You repliers are for the most part, emotionally abusive people yourselves. You must protect yourself and your little beliefs in order to feel good about your "goodness". Grow up.

"When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself." - Wayne Dyer. Dyer Disciples who replied to me need to look at how they judged me personally. . . and what it says about themselves.

10 Ways to Shine, Indeed!

This book put into the mind of my 8-year-old granddaughter that she could be a writer of positive books for children. She ADORES this book and when she reads it to me, I frankly am transformed by the greatness of it. I have some of Dr. Dyer's CDs and books for adults and felt that if his philosophies could be instilled in growing minds, what a treasure they would be. And they have been for my little one. She likes to share the philosophies with her friends and has integrated them into her confident little self. What a treasure!

I would not have purchased this book had I known ...

I would not have purchased this book had I known that if contained the word "God". Since it does, I am returning it. Although I appreciate Dr Dyer's teachings, I will ALWAYS take exception to that word, regardless of who uses it. It defeats the reality of what
I'm trying to teach my grandson - that we have ultimate power over our own lives. This said, the concepts are inspiring & the artwork is colorful.
