Features & Highlights

  • The prequel to the best-selling video game
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us
  • ! It will be a war between heroes who used to call each other friends. A war among gods. Superman’s grip over the world is unrelenting, and the casualties are rising. The super-pills Batman synthesized from Lex Luthor’s original have given the resistance an edge, but it’s only a slight one. Especially compared to the fearsome power of the Man of Steel’s newest allies: the Sinestro Corps. Thankfully, help is on the way. The Guardians of the Universe are none too pleased with Superman’s actions over the past year, and they’ve dispatched their Green Lantern Corps to aid the alliance of heroes opposing his unjust rule. Their plan involves the biggest Corps member there is—and one, little green bullet to bring down a god. But death is not the only way a god may fall. A battle unlike any other rages across—and above—the globe as the story of what happens before the events of the hit video game continues in surprising, shocking fashion from writer Tom Taylor (EARTH 2,) and artists Bruno Redondo (HUMAN TARGET), Mike S. Miller (
  • A Game of Thrones
  • ), Tom Derenick (JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA), and more in INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US: YEAR TWO (collects issues #7-12 and INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US: YEAR TWO ANNUAL #1).

WOW!

um, xxxxing WOW! injustice: gods among us, year two, volume 2 is utterly amazing. right away, this volume grabs you with one of the most gorgeously rendered sequences between two characters that i can think of in comics, as black canary and harley quinn start with fists raised and wind up somewhere very different. hysterically funny and crushingly sad, dinah and harleen discover they have much in common, not the least of which is their fondness for oliver queen...and loathing for superman. i can't say enough about the dialogue in this sequence and throughout this volume, from hal and sinestro having some quality bro time to barbara and jim gordon having a moment to be parent and child. the end literally brought a tear to my eye, as it features one of the most elegant executions of a common, tired, and irritating comics' trope. all of the art is gorgeous, but bruno redondo and julien huggonard-bert respecially deepen tom taylor's sharp dialogue with the most perfectly drawn facial expressions this side of kevin maguire. and of course, seeing supes behave in this manner is shocking to say the least. i was drawn to this series after stumbling across some excerpts online of harley moments in this series, and she is really the star of the show, though black canary i think is close behind. but folks like guy gardner, sinestro, commissioner gordon, and oracle really have a chance to shine.

good stuff. amazing to think it sprung from a video game. goes to show that even in a visual medium, the writing is what makes it special. this whole series has been amazing.

Great story-line involving Superman taking over the world

This is a Great "alternate reality" time-line story involving Superman taking over the world for what he considered to be "good" reasons. Year two isn't as intense as Year One was but is an excellent follow-up. Definitely worth reading. However I would recommend starting with Year One and reading the whole series straight though to Year 5..

Another fun read in a "what if

Another fun read in a "what if?" world where Superman succumbs to temptation of power and drags other heroes along with him.
