Features & Highlights

  • Meet the three (ahem―four!) little pigs as they convince the narrator to tell a slightly different version of their fairy tale: First, there’s Alan, the one pig in the bunch who is actually a builder. He’s got a BIG problem with building a home out of flimsy straw. Next, there’s Alfred, who wants to be an actor and wouldn’t dream of getting his hands dirty. Then we have Alvin, whose dream is to be…a pumpkin. Last but not least is Alison, the fourth pig, who is ready to bring some flair to this story―if only she can get the narrator to agree to a few changes…And what about that wolf? Grab your jetpacks and get ready for this rollicking retelling of the popular tale.

So funny

My daughter loves these books! She was patiently waiting for this one to come out since this summer. It’s so funny, we were laughing so hard reading it together. Pictures are bright and vibrant. There are so many things to discover on each page that tie into the other books in this series.

Great read

Love this version of the Classic 3 Little pigs. Very cleverly written with additional 4th pig inserted. Helps with demonstrating different ways of approaching the same scenario with differing personalities of the pigs and wolf.

Kid requested!

My daughter read one Its’s Not fairytale by Josh Funk and Edwardian Taylor and was hooked. We had such fun reading the different voices and experiencing the narrator loose controls of the story. Kiddo loves looking at the detailed illustrations and looking for character cameos. Only thing we are angry about is this being the last.

Excellent twisted fairy tale; great for compare/contrast

This twisted fairy tale is as much fun as you would expect from children’s author Josh Funk. The unexpected fourth little pig really has no part in the tale but does an excellent job of interrupting, adding commentary and direction, and generally being a pain in the neck narrator figure. The illustrations by Edwardian Taylor are superb. Hilarious and great to use a compare/contrast lesson or just as an entertaining read for the PK-3rd grade listeners and readers.

Cute take

I enjoyed it more than other readers. I happen to like classic fairy tales, and the elaborate blueprints for their houses were cute. I liked the inventions. I thought it was an innovative twist.
