Not sure Kristen Ashley knows how real people speak and she brings repetitive to a new level
So this is my second KA book, my first being Mystery Man, and obviously I was interested enough (not totally sold however) in my first go around that I wanted to read another of her books. The positive, because I usually like to start on a positive note, is that I kind of like the Romance Fantasy aspect of her books. The whole alpha male mixed with a little danger, mystery and sex is fun, her books seem to be fit the definition of guilty pleasure perfectly.
OK having said that it's time to vent. While I enjoyed the character of Mitch for the most part-he was total alpha male but in a very sweet way (kind of get worn out on the a**h*** alpha male) I could not stand Mara for most of the book. Mara was so unsure of herself and so self-deprecating through 3/4 of the book that I actually believed she had a reason to not like herself because I did not like her. And the reason for her complete lack of self confidence was all because she had a crappy mother and grew up in a trailer park. Girl when you look good and everyone around you in your adult life treats good, shape the f**** up, grow a back bone and move on. I hate the idea that a woman needs a hot mans validation in order to gain some sort of confidence, and I am not a feminist in any way, it is just ridiculous. I would rather see a woman get strong on her own, because she believes in herself.
Now I have to vent on what drove me insane in this book. The dialogue, it is redundant and ridiculous. Mara stutters and stammers so much through this book, especially when she is talking to Mitch, that I wanted to reach through the book and slap her upside the head because I thought maybe she got stuck. Seriously anytime Mitch had a conversation with her Mara did this;
"Umm.."
"Uhhh"
"Umm...Mitch"
Then there was a lot of Mitch saying things like "You get me?" "You get me" "Yea you get me babe." To which I was thinking, how do you know she gets you Mitch because the woman can not form a coherent thought. The dialogue was so repetitive and awkward in fact that I ended up skipping through quit a bit of it.
Dialogue tends to be the most important part of CR genre book and Kristen Ashley, in my opinion, has not nailed it. You end up hating characters that you should like and feeling like half the dialogue is just space filler.
Bottom Line: If you are a fan of KA's book then yes you will probably enjoy Law Man and the character of Mitch. Am I bummed I bought it? No, it was cheap after all. Would I read it again? No. Would I recommend it to someone? I guess that would depend, if you love alpha males coupled with weak women then you will enjoy this. But I will warn you Mara is more annoying than Anastatia Grey...way more annoying.

"O"kay
3.5 stars A light read, not the best of the series, but engaging. The secondary characters were well written. The story dragged in places, but finally picked up. I am, however, tired of female characters that say "kay" or "um" all the time. Give them more of a brain.

It's settled...I'm moving to Colorado...and Tate, Chace, Deck, Hawk, Tack, and MITCH better be there.
Kristen Ashley is going to get me pregnant...it's all her fault. After I read all her books, it is a must that I go jump my husband. Maybe, I should sue...just sayin!
I am in love with with everything this woman writes. I have read most of her series, and all were equally impressive. This is one author where I don't want the books to end because the books just keep getting better and better. Just keep them coming, and I will devour all of them. I thoroughly enjoyed "The Colorado Mountain Series," "The Rock Chick Series," "The Dream Man Series," "The Chaos Series," and "The Unfinished Hero Series." In that order. Don't get me wrong, I can see where her male characters are all pretty similar. I don't disagree with that because I couldn't help but notice that Mitch Lawson is another version of Hank Nightingale, and both of them are spin-offs of Chace Keaton. Just like Tate Jackson is another Sampson Cooper from "Heaven and Hell" (which was not in a series by the way) with a few changes made. Tack Allen is also similar to Tate Jackson. Raiden Miller is mixture of Tate Jackson, Sampson Cooper, and Hawk Delgado. Knight Sebring is another version of Tack Allen and Parker "Shy" Cage. Hawk Delgado is just another mixture of Lee Nightingale, Eddie and Hector Chavez, and Lorenzo "Ren" Zano. The same could be said about Ty Walker from this series being another spin-off of Sampson Cooper as well. Luke Stark reminded me of Jacob Decker. My Point? As a faithful K.A. fan I really don't care because her stories rock, either way. I love how all her characters are intertwined and at some point they all cross paths during her stories. That takes some cohesive, brilliant, writing skills to accomplish that.
This is Mitch Lawson's story, and I have been waiting on his book since "Mystery Man." I loved Mitch. I think he was the essential hero, beautiful, strong, alpha male. Mitch and Mara's story is a beautiful tale. However, the sex scenes are not as plentiful in this book as she has written them in the past. These characters develop their relationship over a long period of time.
I must say that I thought Indy was the most annoying female character Ms. Ashley could write about. Then, I thought it was Ava. Then, I thought it was Gwen. However, I was wrong about all three because it is indeed Mara who holds that title. I'm so glad she had Mitch because if it would have been anybody else I may have been forced to throw this book out of a window.
That said, I loved the relationship with Mara and her cousins, and how Mitch stepped in. Men and women like this are truly rare these days. This book was very sweet in certain areas, and sweet is not a word I ever thought I would use to describe one of Kristen Ashley's books, but this one managed it.

Detective Mitch does not disappoint - Mara is perfect
Favourite moment – Billy tapping his heart and then pointing at Detective Mitch Lawson – tingles and tears.
Law Man is book 3 of the Dream Man Series, although not linked to each other I recommend you start at Mystery Man (#1), you will not be disappointed as characters appear in Wild Man (#2) and then Law Man (#3).
We first met Mitch in Mystery Man and yes I felt so sorry for him when Gwen picked Hawk but knew it was the right decision and then was definitely proven with Mara. Law Man makes me understand that Gwen was never the woman for Detective Mitch Lawson – Mara to me was the perfect woman – Mitch is a Law Man – to protect and my god the way he does it makes me melt, swoon and simply tear up.
Mara became my hero making her BBQ chicken pizza and walking across that breezeway, considering she is so shy she took my breath away. I loved her inner rating system and it made sense when you consider how she was brought up. Mara’s sever determination to give herself a better life and her strength of character when it comes to her two little cousins – pure perfection.
An outstanding moment for me also was Billy’s breakdown and how Mitch makes him realise he can take a breath and live a Dream life as a kid – pure magic.
We are given two beautiful children in Billy and Billie and their love for their Aunty Mara and topping it all off with Billie with her Teflon coating just makes your heart melt as well as Billy’s ultimate devotion to protecting his little sister.
We get operation “Take out the Trash” which was perfect along with “My Mitch” and “Break” – I loved Detective Mitch in Mystery Man and his story is my favourite so far of the three Dream Man series books.
Lovely ending to this story, we see how Mitch, Mara, Billy and Billie all end up – HEA guaranteed

Mitch Lawson.....nuff said.
Written in the voice of Elvira…Because she rocks.
So you know me, I know everything that’s goin’ down in Denver. See my girl Mara here comes with some pretty messed up baggage. She’s got some whacked crazy ass point system workin in her head and thinks she is on the low end of that scale. But I’ve seen the girl and she is hot, she’s got curves, she’s got ass, she’s got legs and hot guy, macho man, decorated, squeaky-clean po-lice detective Mitch has noticed. He saw that a long time ago, but couldn’t find a way to get in there.
Well…can’t be haven none of that got me a premonition. Woke up and it said ‘you gotta give Mitch a in’ So I did. Shredded her sink washer, got my cousin LaTanya to volunteer Mitch to look at it. You’d think two people watching each other like they do it be enough. But some bitches need a little more push. Sortin' their s*** out is like herdin' cats.
Mara got herself some family problems. Seems she has a no good cousin Bill..we all got one in the family. But Mara ain’t so worried about Bill it’s his two kids Billy and Billie because that is the kind of dirt bag loser Bill Winchell is he names his kids the same after him. He’s facin’ a not very happy future that includes a limited wardrobe selection. Mara heart of gold took on Billy and Billie and hot guy po-lice detective Mitch knows this is his shot. Keep Mara safe, keep the kids safe and out of all the crap their daddy got em into and he could have a smokin hot wife, mini-hot-guy and sweet baby girl when all this is over.
Watchin all this play out Tellin’ you, girlfriend, this is better than TV.”
Real Short Review.
Mara drove me nuts in the beginning with hew point system and just how poor her self-esteem was. But once the kids came into the picture I was all in. KA kids always add something great to a story and Billy and Billie were totally adorable.
Mitch, well I wanted to read his book from Mystery Man (MM) when Gwen met him. While it took a smidgen of time for the Mitch Lawson of MM to shine through we eventually get him and I loved the patient way he worked with Mara to pull her out of her head and teach her how to find strength within herself. We are not where we come from.
The majority of this is a love story, there is a small mystery happening on the side but that is just to add a tendril of suspense or drama to the story and go in for the big finale. I was happy to see a few appearances of Hawk, Brock and Tack there when everything hit the fan at the end along with the Nightingale Men that I haven’t officially met yet (Rock Chic in January).
If you have read anything KA you know the drill and the set up. There are some very sexy kisses among other things in this and I liked Mitch and Mara as a couple from the beginning even if she was stubborn and took some convincing. There is also a nice set up going into Tack’s book tying him to the Russian mob so I’m pretty excited to see were that is going.
