Description

About the Author JEFF GOTHELF is the co-author of Lean UX and Sense & Respond, as well as a speaker and organizational designer. He was most recently nominated for a Thinkers50 award for innovation. Over his 20 years in technology Jeff has worked to bring a customer-centric, evidence-based approach to product strategy, design, and leadership at a wide range of companies, like Neo Innovation, TheLadders, Webtrends, and AOL. He regularly keynotes conferences, teaches workshops, and works directly with client leadership teams across North America, Europe, and Asia.

Features & Highlights

  • As companies evolve to adopt, integrate, and leverage software as the defining element of their success in the 21st century, a rash of processes and methodologies are vying for their product teams' attention. In the worst of cases, each discipline on these teams -- product management, design, and software engineering -- learns a different model. This short, tactical book reconciles the perceived differences in Lean Startup, Design Thinking, and Agile software development by focusing not on rituals and practices but on the values that underpin all three methods.Written by Jeff Gothelf, the co-author of the award-winning Lean UX and Sense & Respond, the tactics in this book draw on Jeff’s years of practice as a team leader and coach in companies ranging from small high-growth startups to large enterprises. Whether you’re a product manager, software engineer, designer, or team leader, you’ll find practical tools in this book immediately applicable to your team’s daily methods.

pamphlet

This is a high level 12 page pamphlet, not a book. Would have preferred a more in-depth analysis of the topic.

Less a book, more a printed blog post

Insightful but much shorter than I expected at the price. This is basically a long blog post printed as a book, and it stays at an introductory level. If you’re already familiar with these methodologies, you’ll find this underwhelming.

Too short, and essentially a monetized blog post

1-2 pages per concept, 39 pages (actually a bit less) and a glossed over view of the topics/concepts mentioned. While well-written, it reads like an intro chapter to a book or a blog post, and lacks meat on its bones.

Would be fine if it were an online blog post, or if the cost of this was less, but at best this is an all-too-brief intro to whet your appetite on Lean/Agile/Design Thinking. Actually with only a couple of pages dedicated to design thinking I question why it's even in the title.

I wish I could get a refund.
