Game changing - and fast

Since climbing aboard the Stephen Covey bandwagon in the 80's, I have used many productivity systems and read stacks of books on the subject.
This is hands-down the most succinct, well-organized, user-friendly guide I have ever used. It has already massively changed the way I work. I have a very busy leadership job and no paid assistant, and I am not a techno-whiz. But I spent a day working through the book, shifting my email from Outlook to Gmail and following Ari's steps, optimizing my inbox, adding the add-ons, and experimenting with virtual assistants. It has made a mind-boggling difference. My learning style is more intuitive than systematic, and I was still able to follow and implement his recommendations. I greatly appreciate that he names the best purveyors and gives you the links.
Eliminating errands - I live in the countryside - this has probably already saved me 10 hours or more in the first week. I may have to give the UPS guy a nice Christmas present, but wow - a full day of my life back.
Thanks for this fantastic resource. I just bought one for my old mentor. He's very excited.

Getting happier everyday

I'm starting to applying the concepts and tips in the book to my life and I'm actually feeling happier. I used to worry all the time but now I love my life more. Thanks Ari.

I recommend this book to those who have been using to do list but seems to be unable to effectively manage your life (like I was). This book is not just about managing to-dos, but managing emails, finance, time, health and overall wellbeing.

Skip this book

This book is better off as a series of blog posts. Most of the information is familiar to someone who has read The Four Hour Workweek or read other blogs on productivity. I listened to this book in 2018 and some of the recommendations are no longer accurate. For example, Card Munch no longer exists, the $1 check cashing place now charges $5, Evernote started charging money and now has many free competitors. Some of the recommendations can become expensive. Some recommendations I disagree with, such as never using credit cards. Overall your time is likely better spent reading the author’s blog or listening to his podcasts to get more current recommendations.

Fantastic list of resources

I appreciated the brevity of this book. Even though it's "small" it's packed with resources that can be used to make your life easier and more on "auto pilot" (which means you can focus on things that really matter). Sprinkled throughout are real life examples of how Ari uses the tools to improve his life. While I was able to read it quickly, it will take more time for me to implement the ideas/tools in there (I just read the book last night and I've already started using some of the tools today). As a virtual assistant I'm also going to use the ideas listed here to help my clients. (which is a win-win, in my opinion).

Content is basic,

The content is basic in nature, but I can understand that given it's probably meant for people that are unfamiliar with using technology to automate their lives.

Ultimately it has a few good ideas worth considering while peeking into someone else's life.

Great book!

If you liked Tim Ferriss's 4-Hour Workweek, you'll love Less Doing, More Living. True to the book's premise, this is a very quick, easy read that doesn't waste any time getting to strategies that will help you streamline your life.

Recommended

This is a quick read, and has the feel of a compilation of blog posts. It feels a little like The Four Hour Work Week-Lite, and Meisel does in fact mention Timothy Ferriss' book. Many of the recommendations include the use of apps or other software that seem at first glance like they would be more of a pain to start using than they're worth, but that may be a prejudice on my part.

Overall, Less Doing, More Living has a lot of tips that readers might find useful.

fascinating read

This book takes the 80/20 rule to the next level. We all know focusing on doing more with less time sounds like a great concept, but implementing the concept is another issue. This book is a 'tool kit' for people that actually want to do it. The book is small and an easy read, but I find I have to reread it again and again to change old habits. Even if you don't subscribe to every 'less doing' tactic, understanding how to leverage your time with technology makes this book a must read. I can hardly wait for the sequel.
