Description

“ Little Pilgrim's Progress is a visual feast. On display, alongside a timeless story, is Joe Sutphin’s extraordinary art. Sutphin shows, once again, why he is at the zenith of living illustrators, somehow conveying profound beauty with an earnest simplicity that uses astonishing art to invite and bless, where so many can only alienate and alarm. If Joe Sutphin is creating, I am waiting. If Joe Sutphin is sharing, then I am in line to acquire and enjoy. He never lets me down.” —S. D. Smith - Author of The Green Ember “I can’t recommend highly enough! A must-read for every family—an exquisite, life-changing classic!” —Ann Voskamp - New York Times bestselling author of The Broken Way “This beautifully reimagined telling of John Bunyan’s spiritual classic is sure to delight both children and adults. The allegorical truths found in both John Bunyan’s and Helen Taylor’s versions have been well preserved and powerfully enriched by Joe Sutphin’s updated artwork. The thought, care, and detail that has gone into each gorgeous illustration is a treasure trove of subliminal profundity that’s on par with the best visual storytelling on the planet. Discovering or rediscovering this updated masterpiece, is sure to bring fresh encouragement to the reader’s and listener’s hearts and minds.” —Nathan Engelhardt - Animator for Disney Animation “ Little Pilgrim’s Progress had an enormous impact on me growing up. This new edition, gorgeously illustrated by Joe Sutphin, is exactly the kind of soul food kids the world over need to be reading and rereading right now. These pages truly capture the beautiful struggle of living faithfully in times of darkness, and I’m confident that they will inspire every reader, young and old.” —N.D. Wilson - Author of the Bestselling 100 Cupboards trilogy and the hit Netflix series Hello Ninja HELEN L. TAYLOR , author of Little Pilgrim's Progress , has carefully rewritten a centuries-old tale in order that children might be able to grasp the truths set out by John Bunyan in 1678. She is now at home with her Lord. JOE SUTPHIN is an illustrator of books for kids such as Andrew Peterson's beloved Wingfeather Saga, the New York Times bestselling Word of Mouse by James Patterson, and the official graphic novel adaptation of Richard Adams's timeless classic, Watership Down (Ten Speed, 2022). His love of nature, and of the living creatures in the fields and woods around his home, has informed his art for much of his life. Joe lives in a barn in Ohio with his wife, Gina, and a bunch of cats.

Beautiful "Pilgrim's Progress" & "Christiana"

Beautiful "Pilgrim's Progress" & "Christiana"

Wonderful retailing of these classics for little ones. I was glad to see it included both John Bunyan's "Pilgrim's Progress" and his "Christiana", the journeys of both young Christian and Christiana.

BE AWARE
The first few pages have illustrations without text which portray young Christian's mother has died. I will skip this as I think this is unnecessary.

As noted by a previous reviewer, we are led to understand Christian's mother is looking down on him from the Celestial City and helping him on his journey. This is unbiblical and we will need to skip these parts.

Some of the scary monsters could be a bit unsettling for young children, though they are necessary for the telling of pilgrim's progress.

ENJOY!
Looking forward to sharing this with our granddaughter, I'm sure she will be blessed!

Amazing illustrations!

My daughter loves to illustrate. I purchased her this book as inspiration and encouragement. She says it is a beautiful work of art and it is sad people age out of picture books.

A book to treasure!

[[VIDEOID:4bfd97db1315194f0e495c415b9da30b]] My daughter received this book as a gift for Christmas.

This version of The Pilgrim's Progress (Little Pilgrim's Progress) is child friendly because it’s easier to comprehend John Bunyan’s allegory of the Christian life (Helen Taylor’s updated version for younger readers). I like how it’s spaced out and gives you and your little one plenty of reading material each night before bed.

Though this book is mainly text, it holds some beautiful illustrations throughout. No matter your child's age, you, too, will enjoy reading it to them.

A book to treasure for generations to come and to read alongside your Bible!

Stunning!

My children (5 and 3.5) and I read this book together as a read-aloud bedtime book. They asked for it nearly every night. It was very, very well written for young minds. Themes and events from the story arise at random times in our work and play. We cannot wait to read it again. I highly recommend this book!
