a bit hokey

I love the concept - spells for each day of the year that are specifically made to coordinate with the phase and position of the Moon and stars. However, the spells themselves are a little hokey. I appreciate that they try to make magic accessible, modern, and fun, but the tone kind of fell flat with me as an adult.

What the book would benefit most from is a page at the beginning of each month which outlines what supplies you will need in order to craft that month's spells. Unfortunately there has been a few times already that I've come to a spell I wanted to perform but didn't have the supplies on hand. I have ended up reading ahead a couple weeks at a time to ensure I have everything I need to do the magic I want to.

A great place to start doing daily rituals/spells. Will buy next years also!!

[[VIDEOID:4ab72a77c56d00b2e1cbd91dc8d1d6eb]] This book is amazing! It has really helped me keep up on some morning rituals and routines. The spells aren't super hard , and they don't require a bunch of things. So most of them are able to be done with out any preparation. A couple weren't for me so I just didn't perform it, and others you can do daily , or when you feel the need which I REALLY love! Totally recommend this book!

Easy to follow and helpful references for newbies

Unlike some other spell-a-day type of books, this one has a useful and easy-to-follow index in the very beginning of the book to help guide you to a few spells on specific subjects so you do not need to flip through it all. Even if that list is not comprehensive, it is useful.

For those like me who are just trying to understand modern witchcraft in the West and dipping their toes into it as a non-practitioner per se, it has brief explanations of the Western astrological sun signs, the days of the week with magical influences as well as a glossary of frequently used magical terms. Some of the terms may not be new to you, but I found it helpful to see how they are described therein (i.e., chakra, deva).

The commentaries that precede the month in question are interesting, too, as are some of the writings surrounding magical and secular holidays observed on the calendar. I am learning all sorts of interesting and new things, such as the entry on March 26 for Prince Kuhio Day.

Even if you do not practice any of the spells, there are a lot of great writings on which to contemplate and meditate. I think I'll buy 2022 when it comes out, too. Only reason to knock off one star is because I don't like the cover art or the Horned God design that's used for the entire Witches' Spell-a-Day Almanac series. Would be nice to see some different artwork like Llewellyn's does for the Magical Almanac.
