Features & Highlights

  • Midoriya inherits the superpower of the world’s greatest hero, but greatness won’t come easy.
  • What would the world be like if 80 percent of the population manifested superpowers called “Quirks”? Heroes and villains would be battling it out everywhere! Being a hero would mean learning to use your power, but where would you go to study? The Hero Academy of course! But what would you do if you were one of the 20 percent who were born Quirkless?A new player emerges in the underground world of villains in the form of the Meta Liberation Army. Led by the CEO of the Detnerat Corporation, the MLA is preparing for a new metahuman revolution. In their eyes, the League of Villains is an obstacle to be removed, but Tomura and his band of miscreants aren’t about to go down quietly. It’s army versus league in all-out war, and dominance must be established.

One of the best arcs for MHA

Love that this section of the story is solely focused on the villains. We get backstories for some of the League members and the MLA members get some shine and showcase their quirks (Re-Destro is pretty much MHA’s Hulk)
Can’t wait for this arc to be animated in Season 5!

The Villains get their spotlight

This is where the series begins to darken. An excellent read through and Horikoshi's art is amazing as always!

My Hero Acadamia Vol 24

This one was different compared to the others. Honestly I think it's my favorite so far though. It's the regular My Hero Academia series but centered around the villains. There is a new group out and about and they don't care too much for the League of Villans. You get a lot of their back stories and it kind of answered some questions I had. For example: why is Shigaraki the way he is? How did the big bad guy get ahold of him when he was a child? Twice tells a bit more of his story and you get to see a bit more emotion with them all than you usually do. Toga has her story explained and I've been wanting to know hers for a while. You also find out about Spinner. I haven't finished it yet but I do believe we also get some insight into Compress's background too. None of the kids though. It's just about the villains and the people they're fighting this time.

An interesting twist for the genre

While it's quite common in shonen anime/manga to have back stories for villains and even character development but in this arc it's taken to another level. The entire arc, is completely about the villains, and their character progression. They even fight their own antagonists! This is a level of depth is something I haven't personally seen in another shonen story.
Being able to see the villain team interacting with each other and growing as people is so refreshing. It's also a great way to scale the villains with the protagonist in a natural way.
Reading this really make you feel for all of the villain team. I can only imagine that the fight between the heroes and villains will be conflicting, as now we've seen these villains as characters, and not just a force to move the story along.
Over all I really liked this instalment of one of my favorite manga series, and I can't wait to see what comes next.
