Description

It is the golden age of French aristocratic life in the glittering court of Louis XV. Beneath the posturing and hedonism lies a seething hotbed of intrigue, deceit, and treachery. Ultimately, this is a passionate romance, with added action and adventure, derring-do, and some narrow escapes! I loved it.5 STARS: Fiona Ingram for Readers' Favorite All eBook editions of my books are now in their second edition! Update and download today! When not bumping about Georgian London in my sedan chair or exchanging gossip with perfumed and patched courtiers in the gilded drawing rooms of Versailles, I write bestselling Georgian historical romances and mysteries (crime with lashings of romance). All are set in mid-1700s Georgian England, with occasional crossings to the France of Louis XV. I pull up the reins at the French Revolution where I lost a previous life at the guillotine for my unpardonably hedonistic lifestyle as a layabout aristo! Read more

AN EXCEPTIONALLY WRITTEN NOVEL THAT INFORMS AS WELL AS EXCITES

"Winner: $10,000 Woman's Day/Random House Romantic fiction Prize. Paris/London 1745. Antonia is pursued by the lascivious Comte de Salvan who wants her as a mistress. When the libertine Duke of Roxton snatches her from Salvan's clutches, she believes herself rescued. Has she merely swapped one seducer for another?"

There is little question why NOBLE SATYR won the $10,000 Woman's Day/Random House Romantic fiction Prize - Lucinda Brant's Georgian Mystery is a WINNER in every sense of the word! Seamlessly weaving historical fiction with good old fashioned mystery, Noble Satyr is a beautifully written and realized book. It's appeal is great as anyone who enjoys a vast cast of characters, plots with complexities and wit and riddles and locations that literally spring from the page, are in for a real treat. The amazing writing abilities of Lucinda Brant transport the reader to early 18th Century Paris and London- and what a voyage it is!!
The main character, Antonia is quickly embraced by the reader, as she battles some..well lets just say- not very nice fellows! The villians are far from stereotypes, especially the Duke of Roxton, one of the most complex and ironic of characters you are likely to meet in a novel.

NOBLE SATYR is a book I have read in one sitting (and plan on re-reading- it is that good)- one which I am happy to report is just one in a series of "Georgian Mysteries" by the brilliant Lucinda Brant- and certainly a series I recommend to all!

If you like Georgette Heyer...

I fell in love with this book. Brandt writes beautifully, her characters are a rich tapestry of the 18 th century. Witty, deep, this is as satisfying as a cozy fire, glass of wine and the best piece of chocolate you can find. The characters have wonderfully different voices, the history is part of the plot and you feel that you've been plopped down into another time. Don't read this if you have something important to do. Be prepared to take a break from the world, shut down and enjoy times long past.
