Learn how to create interesting shadow effects with cleaver fabric placement and create optical illusions with your fabrics. Drawing from the inspirational designs of the artist M.C. Escher, the authors of this book have devised visual puzzles that engage the viewer by creating optical illusions with 'impossible' structures. Quite a complex reference but some stunning results which can be modified or rearranged to suit the project plus the bonus projects include totes, coasters and place mats for using up left-over hexagons.―Fabrications (12/10)

Forget the Kindle version
I tried the kindle version of this book and was extremely disappointed. In an effort to save paper, I thought that this, being a book of instructions, would be suited for an electronic format, especially if it is portable in the iPad. Well, all the photographs and pictures were in black and white, and the resolution was so poor that I can hardly see what's in the picture for most of them. What a waste of money and time. Wait for the iBook version that should be in color, if the publishers ever smarten up enough to do so.

Completes One-Block Wonder set
This third book in the series completes the set for those who fell in love with these amazing quilts and want to complete a project with the accent cubes. After completing a regular One-Block Wonder based on the instructions in Book One and Two, I was glad to have this expanded book for my second One Block Wonder quilt with many ideas for my next project with cube and geometric accents.
I encourage anyone planning on making one of these quilts to be sure to read the complete instructions in Book One for picking fabric and getting started. With the right fabric, these quilts are so much fun with glorious results.

a must do technique
One block Wonders Volumes 1, 2 and 3 are well written and can make you look like the quilt artist you have only dreamt of becoming. Warning - this is a very addictive technique. Once is never enough as each piece of fabric offers a whole new creation and by creating three dimensional blocks. Interestingly enough men prefer the geometry of these quilts. I've also used this technique adding hollow circles rather than cubes and voila a new look once again. This book is definitely on my "favourites" list.

Not What I Expected
Very disappointing. Most of book is about kaleidescope quilting, which I already knew. About 1 1/2 pages had anything to do with the cube block technique. If it wasn't so much trouble, I would return it for a refund. I'm still looking for a book or pattern for the hollow cube block. Barbara from MA

Love these one block wonders
I have two of these books...I just love to make these quilts. This book is a good companion book to earlier versions but more advanced so one really does need the previous One Block wonder encore or the One Block Wonder original publication. I refer to the book often and love to see the different quilts made with this method especially when the original fabric is shown along side the finish quilt. THese quilts are just marvelous. I have made several.

Wonderful!
This technique is quite unique. I had 5 yards of a fabric that I was going to use for a backing, but didn't really like it. I used it for this technique instead and it was absolutely wonderful! The cubes are fun, too.

Content repeated from author's other books
Unfortunately, I expected more instructional descriptions for making the cubed designs. I have three other softcopy books by the author, and most of the content and photos are repeated from her other books as building blocks for the cubed designs. I was disappointed with this book despite the different quilt projects offered. Instructions are not clearly described and one has to re-read the descriptions several times to understand what the author is trying to convey. Recommend the buyer select carefully among the several books offered by this author unless you want copies of all the variations of the one-block fabric designs.

I bought this book because the first one showed the ...
I bought this book because the first one showed the cubes in a lot of the quilts but there was nothing on how to make them. That was disappointing! The one thing I wish for this one is that there was graph paper included that could be pulled out and copied. I needed to draw out what I wanted so that I could get everything in perspective. I found some on the internet that I printed but I still needed to outline the hexagons and before I drew in the other shapes. Although I have the hexagon blocks (half-hexi's in pairs) made from three different fabrics, everything is still on the drawing board. My lack of a large design wall (or any place to put one) holds me back.

Not exactly what I had been looking for.
The book has great instructions on a technique that I wasn't interested in. My focus was on the hollow cube and different ways to place them on a quilt. Good Book, but for me, I was disappointed.

Great quilting book with drama & tradition. One-Block Wonders Cubed,
This is a great book! I checked out all 3 books and found this one to be the best for me. Book one has the basics and is great for a beginner and book 3 is very artistic, book 2 had all the techniques of book 3 just a little more subdued for my taste. The pictures are encouraging and the directions are easy to understand. I can not wait to get started since I now have my fabric and the book helps with that too!
