Description

From Booklist Reviewed with Olivier Dunrea's Boo Boo . PreS. Similar in format and approach to Dunrea's picture books about Gossie, Gertie, and Ollie, these volumes introduce two new goslings. Boo Boo presents a little blue gosling who likes to eat; she walks around the barnyard happily devouring morsels left out for the hens, the goat, and the mouse. When she swallows a soap bubble, she begins burping repeatedly. Afterward, Boo Boo seems a little more discriminating about what she calls "Good food." Peedie features a yellow gosling who is a bit forgetful. Though he always wears his baseball cap, one day he forgets where he put it and searches for it without success. His mother reminds him to do a chore he had forgotten, and Peedie is elated to find his cap. Although the simple stories will please children, it's the cleanly designed and sometimes humorous ink-and-watercolor artwork that gives these small books their irresistible charm. The simple texts make these good choices for new readers. Carolyn Phelan Copyright © American Library Association. Just adorable

Peedie is an adventurous gosling who misplaces his lucky red baseball cap and goes searching for it. The illustrations are just absolutely adorable. My 20-month old son adores this book. Very charming! Makes me want to take a look at related books by the author.

More of Gossie!

Right from the first two books about Gossie, my grandson and I were taken by Olivier Dunrea's books. They are colorful and uncluttered with simple honest lessons for little ones about sharing with friends and how no one is perfect. Peedie with his little red hat is no exception. I was able to read it to my grandson through our web cams and the pictures showed up beautifully.

Let's forget about Peedie unless you want the whole set...

Peedie is a gosling who forgets things. What does he do when he forgets where he put his favorite red baseball cap?

I'm a fan of the Gossie and friends early book series. The drawings are so engaging and the rhythm of the words make the story have fun and movement even though there is a lot of repetition. (Repetition helps cement the new vocabulary in the child's mind.) The same is true for this little book's pictures and words, though I wasn't such a fan of Peedie.

There was this attempt to make it about turning an egg but the story didn't work for me. I didn't like the inclusion of mother goose either as she didn't fit with these stories which seem about gaining some independence and learning through interacting with the world. Forgetting things also just seemed thrust into the story without much thought.

book

Bought for my Niece. She likes books because she likes to read. She hasn't said if she likes this book or not but I'm assuming she does, otherwise she would have said something, because she complains a lot.

Great series!

My daughter loves this series! She can't get enough of these books! We've been taking them out of the library for a while so we just decided to finally order them.

Great Book as Gift

I bought this book after reading several recommendations. I bought it for a 2 year old for his birthday, and his mother said he really enjoys it! He especially loves the cap the duck wears, because he loves caps too!

Simply adorable

We really enjoy these short little books by Olivier Dunrea. I absolutely LOVE the illustrations, they are simple and so cute and so are the stories. A little one does not get bored with one sentence on each page and size of the book is perfect too.

We LOVE THESE BOOKS

My son, who loves his hat, loves to substitute his name in for Peedie's. We have the entire family of Gossie and her Friends and never tire of them!!!!

Peedie

My 6 month old daughter loves Peedie. She gets so excited when she sees the simple white cover with yellow Peedie and his special red hat. The pages are nice and simple and the story is also nice and short which should fare well for the upcoming toddler attention span! I am looking forward to picking up the rest of the Gossie and Friends books for her enjoyment.

Adorable book

This is the cutest book. The story is short and very simple. Each page has only one or two short sentences which will keep a small child from becoming too restless. If I read this book to my daughter I can usually count on reading it two or three times because whenever the story is over she says "more, more". It is such a cute story I don't mind reading it a few times. I am planning on buying a couple other books by the same author.
