Description

From School Library Journal PreS-Gr 1—Pete the Cat returns, along with some friends, in this amusing bedtime tale. After a day of sun and surfing at the beach, the friends are reluctant for the fun to end. They head to Pete's for a sleepover. There's plenty of chatter and pizza, but a tired Pete gets the blues—he just wants some shut-eye! The logical cure is a bedtime story, which eventually lulls his friends to sleep. Groovy bedtime story!

Pete the Cat fans will be happy to know that this is another *original* story about Pete and his friends! We love the series but have noticed that most of the Pete the Cat books can be lumped into one of two categories: original stories and *slightly altered* popular children's songs. I much prefer the former, because Pete's groovy personality can shine through.

Pete and his friends have a great day hanging out together but when the sun goes down, they want the party to continue. They decide to have an impromptu sleepover at Pete's to continue the fun. Finally, it is time to settle down for the night. As is expected from these kind of kiddie sleepovers one by one each friend starts making sound when everyone has just settled down. Pete (always the practical one in bunch) decides to read them a story to help encourage sleep. Any parent will appreciate the protests and the ultimate conclusion.

So glad to see another spot-on Pete story after a couple of "meh" ones!! (For the record, we loved [[ASIN:0061906220 Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes]] and [[ASIN:0062304089 Pete the Cat: Rock On, Mom and Dad!]] and weren't huge fans of [[ASIN:0062198610 Pete the Cat: Construction Destruction]], [[ASIN:0062198718 Pete the Cat: The Wheels on the Bus]], and [[ASIN:006230416X Pete the Cat: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star]] so if you have similar taste, that might be helpful)

Bedtime Fun.

We pre-ordered this book as my toddler is a fan of Pete The Cat.

Pete and his friends are hanging out and don't want the day to end so they decide to have a sleep over. All is well until Pete wants to catch some Zzz's and his friends won't quite down. The book stays true to the sing song Pete the Cat style. It is colorfully illustrated and I'm sure that it will captivate the minds of sleep fighting toddlers for generations to come.

My son's favorite Pete the Cat book!!

This is my son's personal favorite Pete the Cat book. We first seen it on youtube being read and my son HAD to have it! He even bought this one with his OWN money (and he is only 6). It also comes with a groovy door hanger that has one side for when you are going to sleep and one side for when you are awake! The book is a cute story of Pete having a sleepover with his friends and his friends keeping him awake and he reads them a story to get them calmed down and they all go to sleep! Very cute and great illustrations as always!

Not as good as other Pete books

Not our absolute favorite Pete book. We really love the ones with the songs and our favorites are white shoes and buttons and this one just wasn't even close terms of entertainment value and fun for the kiddos. That being said we love Pete and will keep trying the other books and hopefully they will be more like the early ones.

Good storyline for reluctant bedtimes.

I read this book after borrowing it from the library and loved it so much i just had to buy it for my 3 year old grandson who does NOT like to go to nap/bed/sleep. It is great fun reading it together and he can say many of the lines from it by himself.

Good price on a hardcover Pete the Cat book

My four year old soon is in love with the Pete the Cat series. He was introduced to these books by his 4K teacher and now everytime he sees a different one he wants it. We purchased this one for him for Christmas and it has been a new favorite bedtime book. It is a hard cover book and is just the right length for a bedtime story. He and his 3 year old brother stay interested and can actually "read" it to me now as they have it memorized. The book came with a door hanging that they can change for bedtime or daytime. When I looked for it online Amazon definitely had the best price. I recommend this book for the preschool thru early elementary years.

but what my daughter really loved was that you could sing some of the earlier ...

I wish it had more 'sing song' lines. It has a bit, but what my daughter really loved was that you could sing some of the earlier books. It is a cute story however and my daughter still really likes it.
