Turd was Polished Thoroughly, (pg. 121) and then it got worse. So Lame!

Easy read with the terrible line which makes NO sense the worse single line error. At best YA, till you realize the booze reliance of the writing is as bad as torture in other stories. Oh, yeh, the torture is there but just as obtuse as elsewhere. Whisper blade translates as a Neal Asher rip off, though of course most things are in the sci fi world. Sometimes the characters were good and then the authors went into Squiggie's world of Captain Hook piracy and high finance and the story shriveled into super bad soap opera. Suggest the authors divorce and each rewrite their contributions. Science Fiction in a cell phone universe! Thanks, Harry!

Strictly one dimensional

A + B = C minus, thats the formula for this book, and the grade I give it. The characters are totally one dimensional, and the book
is so short that it doesn't allow for the reader to begin to care about them. It's a good book for the beach, fast paced, with a sensible, straightforward plot, but if you're looking for a convoluted space opera you won't find it here. It really should be marketed as a young adult novel.

Old-school adventure.

the title is not intended as a slight or in a derogative way. By old-school, I refer to the fact that this is an adventure story that is virtually non-stop action and intrigue. It nods rather than bows to scientific fact as we presently understand it, but this isn't an engineering text, this is an adventure story, and it succeeds marvelously well. The characters are real enough that we care about them and want them to succeed. The plot twists are enough to make you reach for something steady to hold onto. Gary Jonas and Bill Allen have so perfectly melded their talents that I was unable to guess which writer had written which passage. It all flows together beautifully. While there is no deep meaning in the story, it is entertainment provided by remarkably talented writers.
