a bit dull, but better than nothing

If you are starved for Jane Austen's story to continue, then this will give you a fix. But although the assumptions are interesting, I didn't think Darcy stayed in character. A Mr.Darcy who doubts his every decision is really Mr.Bingley right? right. 3 stars because it isn't bad, but it also isn't real good.

I found this story in a boxed set called Imperfect Gentlemen. So I've enjoyed them for the most part but chose instead of rating the stories individually instead of as a whole. I would recommmend the boxed set primarily because this tale is short and imo not worth $7.99. The whole boxed set of 5 stories was .99. It definitely effects my rating overall of the books.

This one is not the Darcy & Elizabeth story we've read over and over. The take on it is Darcy has taken his now pregnant, married sister and has chosen the Bingley's estate( Netherfield) to hide under a false name. Wickham is a disappointment and Darcy feels it's his only means in order to protect his sister.

Elizabeth met Darcy at Rosings after Charlotte married Collins and that side of the story is still the same as Darcy envies his cousin Fitzwilliam for his ability to charm Lizzy. I think the author did an okay job at unfolding her story but I can't help but feel some disappointment at the other couples future more detailed than D & E. they get their HEA and we know they had children but no number, names or gender is elaborated. No wedding is witnessed by the reader either.

We get to see The Bingley's become a family and Georgianna a mother. We get to see Darcy with a better filter as it was. Those bumbling words of insult were carefully concealed and he was charming and eloquent in his proposal to Lizzy. For that I was glad but I felt because of the length the story revolved around others and made took that spot light from their story. This is a clean read with a few shared kisses. Enjoy!
