Features & Highlights
I’m NHL defenseman Lance Romero, AKA Lance “Romance." I’m notorious for parties and excess. I have the most penalty minutes in the league. I get into the most fights. I take the most hits. I’m a player on and off the ice. I’m the one women with no inhibitions want. Not because I like the notoriety, but because I don’t know how to be any other way. I have secrets. Ones I shared with the wrong person, and she used them against me. Sometimes she still does. I should cut ties. But she makes it difficult, because she’s the kind of bad I deserve. At least that’s what I believed until someone from my past gets caught up in my present. She’s all the good things in this world. She lights up my dark. I shouldn’t want her. But I do. I should leave her alone. But I won’t.

‘Pucked Off’ is a heartbreaking, beautiful, sweet and hopeful story.
‘Pucked Off’ is finally out. YEAY! And I don't know for how long I waited this book to come out but here what happened to me on the release day:
Me (the night before release day): Yeeehhhuuuuu! I cannot wait to get my hands on ‘Pucked Off’
Me (the morning of release day): I cannot wait to get off work, cuddle with my kindle and start reading
Me (@ 6 pm on release day): FML! I am stuck at the office (till 1 am) :(
Me (@ 2 am on release day): Finally, in my bed and reading
Yeah I know I sound like a psycho but I couldn’t help myself, I had to read it and couldn’t wait any longer. At the end, I didn’t sleep at all but it was totally worth it. I hope my review can make justice to the book and I don't give away much and ruin the story for you. So ‘Pucked Off’ is the fifth book of the ‘Pucked’ series. It is one of the best sport romance series I ever read. If you read the ‘Pucked’ series you all know who Lance Romero is and probably can remember Poppy too. While the rest of the series was light hearted and full of funny moments, ‘Pucked Off’ is different. It is the most emotionally and the heartbreaking story of the series.
Do you remember the girl from ‘Pucked Up’ who rubbed off the dick on Miller’s forehead, went to grade school with Lance and was stuck in a closet for seven minutes with Lance when she was twelve years old? She is our heroine Poppy O’Connor. Poppy is beautiful, sweet, smart, and generous. She works as a massage therapists and that is how Lance comes back into her life.
Through out the series, we all read about Lance ‘Romance’ Romero and know all about his reputation as a manwhore. I was always curious about his relationship with Natasha, a.k.a. Tash, the team's ex-physical therapist and at some point was hoping she was his happily ever after. OMG! After reading the book and realizing how toxic she was for Lance, I am really glad it wasn’t her. Deep down Lance is sweet and has a good soul but he is really broken, vulnerable and insecure. He has a lot of trust issues because the people that supposed to love and protected him, only neglected and abused him. He also doesn’t believe he deserves anything good because of the guilt he is carrying since he was eleven years old. He envies the serious and stable relationships his teammates Alex, Miller and Randy have. Even though he doesn’t think he deserves it, he wants to have the same stability in his life. In the hopes of having someone he can trust in his life, he shares his past with Tash, which she ends up using it to manipulate and hurt him more.
The events caused by his misplaced trust leads him to the clinic where Poppy works. When they meet at the clinic even though he is nervous, he is attracted to her. He has a feeling he knows her but he cannot remember it. Because of his horrific childhood he keeps the memories related to his childhood locked away, which is not really helpful at all. I loved how their relationship was evolved and how by the help of Poppy, he started to remember the good memories from his childhood. Poppy is one of the few people who can see through Lance. Every time when Lance tells Poppy ‘‘I wanna deserve you’’, my heart broke for him but it also made me love Poppy more because she always assured Lance that he deserves her, their relationship and happiness. I also loved how successfully Helena Hunting balanced the ups and downs of their relationship so that it wasn’t full of relationship drama. You want more details about their relationship? Then I recommend you to start reading the book ASAP :)
‘Pucked Off’ is a heartbreaking, beautiful, sweet and hopeful story. I couldn't put this book down until I was done. If you enjoy previous books from the ‘Pucked’ series and/or sports romance, you will definitely enjoy reading this book. I am hoping that this is not the last book of the series and maybe next we can read stories of Charlene& Darren or even Abby&Rookie :)
Would I recommend this book: Yes.
Would I re-read this book: Definitely.
Would I read future books by this author: Yes.

Enjoyed it
This was a story I truly like. A person who is lost in the head and a strong wiling partner to help them find themselves. Add in a little drama and some characters from the previous stories and my favourite type of writing. Great job. Loved the narration too.

I loved this book
This book was so much more than I would have thought based on Lance's regressions in the previous books. I would have never thought in a million years that his leading lady would be a small character from a previous book. We all were assuming the trainer would tame him and his wild ways. Who knew she was just as crazy as he believed he was.
Lance, he has a good heart, he just doesn't know how to work it correctly until Poppy uses her magical hands on him. It is wonderful what injuries do for our favorite men. Most of my favorite books involve a man meeting someone during an injury and its usually the best thing for them. Lance's past, downer, his family suck, and we get a way deeper reasoning of his foolish ways.
Poppy was everything Lance needed. She was sweet, caring, and she listened. She cared enough to listen and not act right away. I loved the chemistry with these two. I loved Helena's writing as usual, she always gets me so consumed I forget all my other duties until I get to the end.

Lance is hot hot hot!!
Another five star read by the very talented Helena Hunting! I discovered The Pucked Series by accident a while ago. Each and every time I read another story in the series I become even more thankful! This is a story of a hot sexy and tough hockey player battling inner demons and everyone surrounding him has no idea. It still has the light funny and witty stuff like the other novels but Lance is a such a complex character. Poppy battles with herself on whether she should tell him their history but her low self esteem prevents her from doing that. Helen will take you on a journey of hurt and pain and self discovery through this beautiful novel. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I have!

5 stars for this beautiful, sweet, and heartbreaking story.
5 stars for this beautiful, sweet, and heartbreaking story.
Since reading from Lance in the previous books, I was eager to read his story, and what was the surprise that not only I loved it, I loved it and happens to be my favorite and Lance became one of my bookboy friends.
We saw from him little glimpses at all of the others books and I knew he would become my favorite of all the Pucked Guys.
Lance, omg!! I wanted to hug him very hard and never let him go .... I felt a deep connection with this character, is of those guys who are lost and lonely inside and try to cover everything with friends, parties and vices. A sweet and tender child in a sexy and sensual armor.
He is a boy with many demons, who carries a lot of luggage and much pain, which causes you so much tenderness that makes you squeeze the heart.
I hated, I hated some characters, I wanted to get into the book and shake them and slap them, and kill them ....
I will not talk about the female protagonist to not ruin the story to anyone who has not read it, but let me tell you that it is the perfect complement for Lance and that this couple will stay in your heart forever.
I love reading from the other characters, Alex, Violet, Miller, Sunny, Lily, I really would love to have a group of friends as beautiful as this ...
As always Helena knows how to get your attention, with a story so beautiful, with twists and situations that will make you laugh, cry, and smile ... still tears me and I'm waiting for Helena to take pity on us and give us another book of this beautiful couple ...
I can only recommend this story that is beautiful and very well done ...

The best installment in the Pucked series yet!
***I received an ebook copy in exchange for an honest review***
When I first started the Pucked series, I was crazy for Alex Waters. I read the original book before it was even a book, and I never expected there to be another man in the series who could even compare to what Alex was to me.
I was wrong.
Lance "Romance" Romero came straight on in and knocked Waters right off that pedestal.
Pucked Off is the latest installment in Helena's Pucked series. The book follows Lance, who ends up in a bar fight that leaves him injured and needing massage therapy. Enter Poppy, the massage therapist who gets selected to work with the hockey playing bad-boy. Lance hasn't had the best of luck with massages in the past, because he doesn't really like being touched. But, it's not like that with Poppy. Soon he's doing whatever it takes to see her, and she's finding the defensive walls she's erected around her heart beginning to crumble.
I have to admit that in previous Pucked books, I wasn't impressed with Lance. He doesn't exactly have the best reputation, but in Pucked Off, all of that gets explained. And it's Lance's backstory, which I'm not going to delve into because I don't want to spoil the book for anyone, that really made me fall for him. He's been through a lot, had a pretty rough go of life when he was younger, and these experiences shaped him into the man that we get to read about today. And while he's let people run wild with this reputation, and hasn't really cared much in the past, once he meets Poppy, he wants to prove that he's different.
I really adored Poppy. She's feisty, funny, and set in her ways. Her personality is amazing. And even though she couldn't quite get why Lance was paying her attention at first, she loves herself and won't let anybody treat her any less than she deserves to be treated.
There's a connection between Poppy and Lance too, which you'll have to read about to find more out about. These two go back, and that added a whole new element of sweetness to this already-amazing tale.
Pucked Off is a wonderful romantic comedy. Helena brings her signature sassy, laugh-out-loud style to the pages, and we get to see all our favorites from the former books. It was so fun to see Lance discover different things about himself, and to see him change over the course of the book. What he has always thought was impossible is a reality for him by the end, and to see his defenses come down, his heart open up and all of his insecurities laid out on the table ... Gah. Plus there's all kinds of hot scenes in this book. Which is yet another area Helena excels at writing.
If you've been following the Pucked series, you have to read this book. This one hooked me instantly and I couldn't put it down. And honestly, I would read an entire spin off series just about Lance because he's great.
Five Stars to this book!

LANNCCEEEE!!!!! this book was sooooo gooooddd!!!
LANNCCCCEEEE!!! My god I freaking loved him! Seriously I just loved him and his character. He’s soo much more than what we have read in the previous books.
When I saw this book on my kindle I was very excited to start it… even more so after reading the first chapter of Get Inked.
Frankly after that first chapter and the blurb of the book I was not so sure to read his story because it felt comparatively darker than other books in the series, I thought. But I still read his and I am happy because it really a total page turner. You won’t be able to keep it down.
For those who doesnt know the Pucked gang, let me introduce you. All the male characters are hockey players in NHL of Chicago team. This is the fifth book in the series. Can be read as standalone but for better character understanding read other books in the series as well.
Lance in previous books was shown as a manwh*re but obviously, it’s not like that. His story is complicated and goes to dark part (but not so much). Now the book starts with Lance getting calls from Tash – if you don’t know Tash, you can read her in Pucked over, Pucked Under and Forever Pucked. Tash was a totally b**ch it was like she was the b**ch queen. So vile and crude who would use Lance’a secret against himself. He is already in self doubt when comes to relationship and she always tampers his mood. After meeting Tash he kind of had a fight in a bar and to stay physically fit he had to take massages but the team massager isn’t free so his trainer sent him to another one where he meets Poppy.
Now she has known Lance from childhood. Not typically they were friends but they shared a kiss when Poppy was thirteen in a closet but obviously with Lance’s troubled past he doesn’t remember her. But her touch soothes him unlike other women who would have his skin crawl.
I freaking loved ittt!! Though the other characters of prior book were not showed many times as this book solely focus on Lance emotions. They were so all portrayed so beautifully that by reading them I had tingling feeling in my nose!
Now I Am waiting for the Mr. Grey of the group, Darren’s story.
