Description

Marian Keyes lived in London for ten years before returning to her native Dublin. After receiving a law degree and studying accounting, she began writing short stories in 1993. She is the author of three previous novels -- Watermelon, Lucy Sullivan Is Getting Married, and Rachel's Holiday -- all major bestsellers around the world.

Features & Highlights

  • The fast lane is much too slow for Rachel Walsh. And Manhattan is the perfect place for a young Irish female to overdo everything. But Rachel's love of a good time is about to land her in the emergency room. It will also cost her a job and the boyfriend she adores. When her loving family hustles her back home and checks her into Ireland's answer to the Betty Ford Clinic, Rachel is hopeful. Perhaps it will be lovely -- spa treatments, celebrities, that kind of thing. Instead, she finds a lot of group therapy, which leads her, against her will, to some important self-knowledge. She will also find something that all women like herself fear: a man who might actually be good for her.

Wanted to like it but meh...

I wanted to like this book so badly but I just couldn't. I was expecting an entertaining read from the beginning of the novel, but it quickly shifted into a fairly serious topic with less than likeable characters and an even less likeable main character. I found myself annoyed at Rachel's shallowness, immaturity and lack of growth throughout the novel. By the end I really didn't care what happened to any of the characters.

Love EVERYTHING Marian Keyes

I just wrote a review for Anybody Out There too. Marian Keyes has written 5 books, each about one of the 5 Walsh sisters. I love every single one of them but this one and Anybody Out There are my favorites. They are so charming and fun and still handle serious topics with such grace. I love every character in this book, especially Luke and Josephine.

I have grown to love the Walsh family!

I really enjoy reading Marian Keyes, especially the books about the Walsh Family. Warm, witty and full of life, makes me want to go to Ireland. It was definitely a study of the addicted personality and I found the experience in rehab to be very interesting and always enjoy seeing a person working on their demons.
