A very enjoyable book

I first read Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH when I was a child, after I had watched the movie (which although is a favorite of mine doesn't quite keep the spirit of the book in that Mrs. Frisby does the extraordinary without any odd powers being involved--she is a simple, brave hero), and had I known that later I could read a sequel by the author's daughter I would have been over the moon.
The first book had so much detail and care put into it that I couldn't help but love it and remember it as one of my favorite childhood books. It was one of the first books I read as a kid that I couldn't put down because I was so invested in what the characters were going through. As a child I normally didn't like longer books because I saw them as boring; Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH was definitely an exception, though.
Racso and the Rats of NIMH made me feel similarly and I really liked reading it. I'm very glad that I had a chance to read it.

For fans of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH

The sequel to the wonderful classic story Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH - widely enjoyed by children and adults, is a great follow up which I recommend to all fans of the original book. While not nearly as incredible as the first, I still give this one a four star rating, and just like the first one, many adults will also enjoy this title, which I read years later after originally reading the first book in early Junior High. I picked up and read the original again as an adult, then when I realized their was a sequel (there is also a third book in the series as well), I had to find out if it was any good. I was pleased.
I also enjoy the subtle but detectable and obviously intentional social and political commentary in both the original and this book, which spawns out of the rats' community which represents a microcosm of society.
I recommend the title to any fan of the original - to those who have not read the original, you should if you are a child or an adult. If you like NIMH, you will like this one as well.

first sequel to Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH

A delightful follow up to the first book. The lessons to learn about the downfalls of pride, the need for positive self identity, the virtues of hard work and honesty, are all powerful lessons that the story line brings out. the fantasy of Intelligent rats adds a continuous thread of delight for me. the author does great honor to her dads original story.

Written in the spirit of the original book. Very well written!

If you enjoyed the original "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" from your childhood then you'll enjoy reading this "sequel" even though it is written by a different author. Good writing, well planned story line and keeps with the spirit of Robert C. O'Brien who wrote the original Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH.

Wonderful story

My daughter and I love the Rats of NIMH stories. Racso and the Rats of NIMH is one of the books in a series. You get very involved with all the characters in the story. My daughter who is nine just can't wait until we read every night to find out what is going to happen next. After reading these stories you never look at rats and mice in the same way again. The book makes you appreciate nature and all forms of life. It is a wonderful story and we recommend it highly.

A shadow of the original

This entire book was weak, from the characters to the battle against the construction company. I've read better fanfiction than this collection of character archtypes, Racso the Mary Sue, and the stultification of the solid characters that made Mrs. Frisby so rich. The damn builders could have been replaced with any number of "bad companies out to maim and destroy" including NIMH.

A thoughtfull and entertaining adenture that teachers how to fit in with your peers, that children are going to love

Once again, the Rats of NIMH are back. This setting of this book takes place three years after the rats settle in Thorn Valley. Little mouse Timothy Frisby is on his way to school when he saves the life of a hip rat named Rasco. It is not long before Rasco has the chance to save Timothy's life before they are rescued. This book is filled with adventures, Rasco's mysterious secret, learning how to be truthful, and how to make and be a friend. When Thorn Valley is threatened with being destroyed by a dam, Rasco and the Rats of NIMH must work together to figure out and implement a plan to sabotage the building of the dam. Along the way, Rasco must learn how he really feels about his father, and what true sacrifice it takes to become what he has always wanted to be, a hero.

Sequel to Mrs Frisby and the Rats of Nimh

A wonder story that picks up a short time follow the book of Mrs Frisby and the Rats of Nimh. With most of the characters and back story already established, this book focuses more on moral development and heartfelt motives

Dull, dull, dull

The fact I can only remember two rats making mint chocolates and Justin's "romance" with a character we don't even meet is proof enough just how boring this book is. I haven't read Mrs. Frisby in years and I could still tell almost the whole story verbatim, but like MGM's utterly hack sequel to the movie, this mess is better off forgotten in the trash.
