Description

Since 1973, Rick Steves has spent about four months a year exploring Europe. His mission: to empower Americans to have European trips that are fun, affordable, and culturally broadening. Rick produces a best-selling guidebook series, a public television series, and a public radio show, and organizes small-group tours that take over 30,000 travelers to Europe annually. He does all of this with the help of more than 100 well-traveled staff members at Rick Steves' Europe in Edmonds, WA (near Seattle). When not on the road, Rick is active in his church and with advocacy groups focused on economic and social justice, drug policy reform, and ending hunger. To recharge, Rick plays piano, relaxes at his family cabin in the Cascade Mountains, and spends time with his son Andy and daughter Jackie. Disappointed

Pretty disappointed with this book. I bought it specifically because, while I’m pretty familiar with central & southern Germany, northern Germany is new to me. There is VERY little about northern Germany in this book. The enclosed map doesn’t even include the northern most parts of Germany, but it does have Switzerland... I didn’t buy a Switzerland book. I bought a Germany book so the map and book better darn well cover all of Germany. For instance, Rostock, a very popular tourist destination on the Baltic coast is not even mentioned in the book, nor is it on the map. There is a chapter on Salzburg (Austria) though. How about you cover all of Germany in the Germany book, and then if you find extra room, then add other countries?! I normally LOVE Rick Steves but this seems like a glaring oversight.

Best companion European traveling guides

Always have Loved Rick Steves's traveling guidebooks for over 15 years. Never leave home without having several his books in hand.
It is thorough and comprehensive. Provides confident traveling in Europe! I highly recommend his books and tv (or YouTube) shows! They’re both simply fantastic!

Be Your Own Tour Guide

Steves’ books have helped me carefully plan our European trips for many years. I pull his recommendations and add them to a general timeline, print it and carry it in my crossbody travelbag. This keeps us on track, but not so rigid as to not make the trip enjoyable. We also download his audio tours on our iPhones.

This book made my trip!!!

I had only 1 week in Bavaria, and this book made sure I made the most of every moment I had! Rick gives the history you need to understand why what you're looking at is important, and his enthusiasm actually makes you feel like you are a part of the world you are visiting. He will be traveling with us every time we travel where he has written :)

Disappointed

Did not have a lot of the sites we wanted to were in Germany, disappointing. I guess I didn’t look close enough before ordering. Maybe a book best purchased in a book store so you know you’re getting what you want.

Great travel guide for Europe

Rick Steves' guides are the best you can buy to any Europe travel. We went to Germany in a road trip and this guide was in my hands all the time. His recommendations are great and his information about each city and his city walking tours are just great. I used the Spain one several years ago and the experience was as great. These will be my official guides for any Europe travel!!!
