Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice. Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves good chocolate and bad puns, and in her free time, she likes to read, drink wine, and travel with her family. Read more

Trace is investigating Mari

I voluntarily read an arc of this book for an honest review. What a great story! I absolutely love this new series! Sophie is an animal loving want to be witch. Her grandma was a witch, the other supes say she smells like a witch but she’s less than talented, ok let’s face it, she’s a failure when it comes to casting even the simplest of spells. Trace is a shifter who keeps being forcibly shifted into his Wolf and his best friend has disappeared. People in New Orleans are pretty accepting but that goes against the rules. Trace is investigating Mari because she’s the only new witch in town. He just knows she’s responsible for the shifting and his bffs disappearance. Only the more he’s around her the more he realizes maybe he’s made a mistake. Oh and there’s the little problem that he accidentally bit her and she may turn into a shifter which is also against the rules. These two are irrepressibly drawn to each other. Their feelings are getting stronger but there are so many obstacles in their way. There are so many things that I loved in this book and you will too when you read it.

Pure fun!

This book delivers everything promised by the cover (cute!), title (witty!), and blurb (funny!).

I love the premise for this series (the supernatural underground of New Orleans). I started with Book 2 as the description appealed to me more. The story worked well as a standalone while introducing characters featured in previous and subsequent books. I'd be interested in reading Jasmine and Gaston's stories.

This series seems a bit lighter than most paranormal romance, which is fine, except I never really believed the threat of war between the wolves and witches or that Sophie's life was actually in danger.
