Description

"Imagine a fizzy, soda-like drink that is drier and so much more sophisticated than soda, what with the sugar and botanical ingredients. Shrubs! Amazing! Wonderful!" ― Amy Stewart, author of The Drunken Botanist "A shrub is exactly what the people who invented the phrase “slake your thirst” had in mind. xa0A shrub is full of character and variety. The ingredients―fruit, sugar, and vinegar―are as simple as can be. But the variations are seemingly unlimited. It has another superpower: A strong shrub game can help you make the most of bruised or aging summer fruit" ― The New York Times, in an article featuring Shrubs Michael Dietsch is a writer, editor, and accidental bartender in Brooklyn. He is a contributor at SeriousEats.com and writes about spirits and cocktails at the website A Dash of Bitters . When he’s not mixing drinks, he’s smoking huge chunks of meat, grilling vegetables, bicycling, or enjoying a fine cigar. The author of Shrubs , he lives in Reston, Virginia, with his family. Paul Clarke is the Executive Editor of Imbibe magazine.

Great Book, Great Recipes!

I am so impressed with this book! I am obsessed with shrubs at the moment, and have looked at a number of books on the subject. This one has great and enticing photography. Most importantly, there are great, straight-forward recipes. Most recipes are with ingredients fairly easy to locate. I have already made a couple, and am looking forward to making more. I recommend this book for a curious beginner, or an avid fan. Summer is bound to be better with this book around :)

... mixers or just wants to experiment this is a great resource. For me

For someone who is totally new to making their own mixers or just wants to experiment this is a great resource. For me, the recipes are a touch simple and repetitive. I Do like the extra information sprinkled throughout the book but wish there was an advanced section that perhaps would be more akin to recreating a shrub more like the ones i would get from a Craft Shrub distributor.

Great purchase

I had already made several shrubs (using the standard outline of a "recipe") prior to buying this book, but it's inspired me so much with all the interesting flavor combinations and ideas. I highly recommend this for anyone that loves shrubs or needs reassurance that shrubs are absolutely the EASIEST beverages to concoct.

Great book, delicious recipes

The recipes are simple to make, and knowing that I know exactly what I’m drinking is the reason why I got this book. I just finished making the Cranberry Sauce Shrub because cranberries are in season and I am so pleasantly surprised with the results. On top of that, my shrub will last at least a year in the refrigerator, what a great way to preserve my cranberries, although I know it won’t last that long because it’s so delicious. Can’t wait to try more recipes!
