Description

A #1 Kindle Bestseller Reader's Crown Award Finalist in Paranormal Romance - Romcon 2013 "Mystery mixed with romance makes for an intense and satisfying read. Silver Lake has both elements perfectly balanced throughout. One never detracts from, but actually embellishes the other. Great characterization made me care about this vulnerable protagonist. And, of course, Jason Lansing makes a wonderful hero, both sharp-edged and gentle, he's a man neither Rain or I could resist." - Between the Pages Spotlight Review (four stars) " Silver Lake is part mystery, romance, and even a visit from the paranormal, all around a great, satisfying read. There's times when I'm startled in the book, firstly, by the ghostly visitor that keeps hanging around...yes, I read this at night, which meant I got a little jumpy. I was pretty surprised at the ending and it totally caught me off guard...this is a well-written story with believable characters, and the mystery is strong. I enjoyed the romance blossoming between Rain and Jason...Looking forward to more from Ms. Knight." - Storm Goddess Book Reviews (four stars)

Features & Highlights

  • Rain Anderson can't decide which is more unsettling--encountering the ghost of her missing friend, or reuniting with the man whose love she foolishly rejected. But one thing is certain: the past has come back to haunt her, quite literally. Five years ago, Rain's tight-knit group of high school friends unraveled when one vanished during their senior year. Now, a parent's deathbed request has reunited the friends at Silver Lake, including Jason Lansing, the man Rain discarded. Rain and Jason discover the powerful attraction between them has survived, but though Jason is willing to forgive, he can't let himself forget. The possibility of falling for Rain again is too risky. Slamming doors, crashing objects, flaring fires--clearly the ghost has a message to share. As Rain and Jason struggle to unravel the truth, they must face a desperate spirit in need of help--and a burning passion that refuses to die.

Tantalizing and Descriptive

The author, Kathryn Knight, imparts a tantalizing and descriptive allure to her characters and the story as the mystery unravels chapter by chapter. As a predominantly nonfiction reader, this novel, Silver Lake, not only captured my attention but held it until the end. This speaks loudly for Kathryn's ability to attract a reader's interest with suspense and anticipation for the next adventure.

Haunting and human

"Silver Lake" brings a real humanity to the unreal. These characters have depth - funny, bright, sometimes falling short and sometimes unexpectedly stepping up. They are bound by love and loss. You are quickly drawn into their lives and want to stay with them until the end. They speak and act like actual human beings, like you and your friends might, and that's the central strength of the book. It is a ghost story that stays true to life, a fantasy that tells some essential truths.

Review of Silver Lake by Kathryn Knight

This book was a great read. I finished the book in three sittings, which is unusual for me! As a guy, I've read hundreds of books, but this was my first romance novel. I feel it could be classified under suspense/thriller as well! I couldn't put the book down and am looking forward to the author's next book! I would recommend this book to all girls and guys. Great novel!

It gave me chills!!

Silver Lake was a great read! The story was interesting and kept me wanting to see what happened next. It was a nice blend of mystery and romance. I read it in two nights but it would have been one night if I hadn't started it so late in the day. Highly recommended!!

Additional review: My husband has a long commute to work & was looking for a new book to read so I gave him Silver Lake. Despite his initial skepticism he loved the story & was quite impressed with Ms. Knight's writing skills. Kudos to her because he needs a book that catches his attention quickly & keeps him engaged throughout & her book did just that!

Suspenseful and a Page Turner!

Okay, so two friends of mine highly recommended this book so I bought it right away through Amazon. I am an avid reader and can usually anticipate the ending of books. Well, I was very surprised at the ending of this book. Ms. Knight's storyline kept my attention throughout the whole book and I can say that I had a difficult time putting it down. Congratulations on a well-written and exciting first book! Looking forward to the next one...

Disappointed

This book was ok. It would have been better if there was more paranormal action and less romance. I found it very annoying that the main character was constantly biting her lower lip. She saw puddles everywhere in the house but didn't tell her friends; that was also annoying. They really didn't spend too much time discussing their dead friend or trying to solve her mystery. They spent most of their days hanging out on the beach. This was a very drawn out story.
