Description

"If god, as they say, is in the details, then Kerby Rosanes's art is indeed heavenly. His mesmerizing imagination and how he translates it onto the page with breathtaking draughtsmanship is truly astonishing." - Chip Kidd, Graphic Designer "As soon as I discovered Kerby's work, I knew I had stumbled upon something special. The attention to detail, the subject matter - everything about the art screams fun and creativity." - Aaron Firestein, Co-founder of BucketFeet Kerby Rosanes is a Phillipines-based artist. He works mainly with ordinary black pens to magically illustrate his "doodle" world. Most of his works are characterized by whimsical lines, patterns, characters, and little elements that are spontaneously combined to create massive compositions depicting his everyday experiences or anything that inspires him. Kerby left his job as a graphic designer in a local company to finally pursue his passion: creating more art for personal projects and for various clients and collaborating with other artists and design agencies around the world. Some of his current clients include Nike, Mazda, the National Art Society, Kult, Typ, Humm, and Puzzle Planet. He is the artist behind Animorphia, Imagimorphia , Doodle Invasion, and the upcoming Doodle Invasion 2, and he has a popular new art series called Geometric Beasts.

so fabulous!

this is SO beautiful, but oh my, the drawings so tiny. i am not sure i can colour in the book itself. i may just copy the pages i want to colour and enlarge. but i am really glad i bought the book. the paper is nice and thick, the pages lay down flat so the gutter is not too bad. pretty cool book!

La Gioconda i scanned and then had printed on A3 paper because it was just too detailed to colour in the book and i loved this drawing. the flamingo i coloured in the book.

UPDATE: if you press hard while colouring, the ink from the backside of the page will transfer to the next page and vice versa so be sure to put something between the pages when colouring.

Something to distract me from work

I have to be honest, I have a bit of an obsession with Kerby Rosanes. I'm not stalking the poor guy, but I do love looking at his artwork and pondering the minute details and complex compositions he creates, so when I saw this book, I knew I had to have it. When you open the book, you will find an intro that talks a bit about the artist and the artwork and how his stuff was discovered. Then, it moves on to a brief note from the artist himself. I found those both interesting, but this book really sells itself with the included artwork. This is like a peek behind the veil, as it were.

I love knowing what goes on behind the scenes and in the minds of the artists and authors that we come to adore and this is like a backstage pass into the creative mind of Kerby Rosanes. The included artwork is nothing less than fantastic and I was greatly impressed with this book. I do wish there were longer written portions discussing his art process, but this is still pretty fabulous anyway.

Now that I've had the chance to look through it, I am using this to create a bullet journal with to do lists and tasks around the artwork. A good purchase for anyone who loves this art style.

Amazing, intriguing and unusual

I have searched like crazy for the perfect coloring book and this is it. I love that it is hardback and has an elastic band to keep it closed. You can throw it in a bag with no worries about damage. The art work is amazing, intriguing and unusual. Exactly what I was hoping for.

Magical little book

Loved this beautiful little book. It's either a small coloring book or it isn't. The book is a "sketchy" timeline of the artist evolution of art. If you want to color this book, fine point pens or markers would work best. Or a fine pencil such as Prismacolor Verithin. They have a harder core for more outline and smaller detail. I am going to use the space in the pages to write poetry in. This book would make a beautiful journal too.

Unsure but now thrilled!

After reading the reviews I was a slight bit hesitant to order Sketchy Stories because the size was smaller and the pictures were heavy grey scale. I love his work and decided it was worth the price regardless. I am so glad I did because I can still color many of the pictures and I just love the whole idea of this little traveling colorable journal. I think its neat and I love having his original starting pieces.... Really cool buy!

Great Artwork

I first found his art going around Tumblr. Not too long ago, I stumbled upon his Instagram account and was amazed by the drawings he creates. I actually have two of his drawings merged into one for one of my tattoos. I absolutely love his work and will definitely purchase any new ones if he continues to publish more.

Wicked cool art and great packaging!

This is a journal-like book with an elastic closure filled with beautiful and clever illustrations. It is the type of art that you can look at over and over again and always see something new. It isn't specifically suggested that you can color this art in but you could as it is all black and white line art. The art has meanings, puns and double entendre along with cute little creatures, deer, birds and all sorts of things. A complete feast for the eyes!
