Features & Highlights

  • Guns and bombs are children’s toys. A true war wages, and you’re invited.
  • IT’S AN INVITATION you may not be able to accept if you want to, or decline if you don’t. It’s an invitation to fight in a war like no other; a war where loss is counted as gain, surrender as victory, and where the enemy you must face, an enemy of unimaginable superiority, is yourself.
  • In Spiritual Warfare, the metaphor of warfare rarely appears. Instead, we are presented with the living reality of a very normal woman — a wife and mother with a demanding career and high-stress lifestyle — and we see what happens when she receives an invitation that, try as she might, she can’t refuse. And we meet another woman, a woman who accepted the invitation and fought and won. In the closing chapters of this book, we attend her memorial service as Jed delivers her eulogy.
  • Spiritual Warfare issues a damning and irrefutable indictment of its own audience and genre, putting spirituality and religion themselves on trial. A terrible crime is being committed against humanity, a crime of oppression and subjugation far beyond Orwell’s1984. We are the victims of this crime, but we are also its perpetrators. Our motive is fear, our sin is ignorance, and the chain in which we enslave ourselves is belief.
  • “Belief means not wanting to know what is true.” -Friedrich Nietzsche
  • Spiritual Warfare is a book for those who
  • do
  • want to know; people who want to escape from their dark asylum and experience a direct and authentic spirituality; people for whom it’s time to look, to think, to know, and, at long last, to put away childish things.

Finally...

After finishing all three books of "Jed's" trilogy [[ASIN:098018486X Spiritual Warfare]]I can now breathe a huge sigh of relief. Finally after all these years I get it. And I have a powerful choice to make.

I'm going to where the real 'knowledge' is - within me - with no need of anyone else. And I'm enjoying watching my movie more closely than ever before - it will be a blockbuster! Here's to "Eyes Wide Open", opening soon at a cinema near you!!

My husband and I can't recommend these books highly enough. You will save yourself thousands of dollars and years of your life by purchasing these 3 books as early in your spiritual journey as you can.

Just begun

I wound up with this book by "accident" it was among a pile of stuff I bought during a trip to Sedona.

I then stumbled across some quotes by McKenna in an article. Hated him from the start. Sounded like an egomaniac pretending to be "enlightened", thought his words were dripping with superiority of the "more evolved". Finally picked the book off my shelf because I was hitting a spiritual dead-end and thought "hey, give the guy a fair break by at least having read his stuff before officially hating it".

I'm about 1/4 of the way in and loving it. It's hard core, direct, intelligent, uncompromising and motivating. His tone is no longer "superior" but simply uncompromising: he has found something and is not interested in playing to my/our self-pity, weakness and fear by pretending it's something it isn't and pretending faux-enlightenment is anything other than another dream state.

He's saying things I've heard before, that I've responded to before and, all too soon, run from back to safety and comfort of the Matrix.

Maybe it'll stick this time. I think he's in a line that has both spoken to me and frightened me in the uncompromising demand of "This is what it takes."

Osho, Crowley, Gurdjieff . . . now McKenna. The reading is teasing me to get around to the doing.

So give him a try. Nothing to lose. Who knows I may update this review some day by hating him again. But why listen to me ?

Spiritual Warfare reflections

I'm in the middle of Spiritual Warfare and have read all of Mr McKenna's other published books. He is unusual, iconoclastic and warlike in spirit, although I'm guessing he would correct me on this. But let's say he brings forth my warlike nature and stimulates me to greater exploration of the question Who am I through his tool of spiritual autolysis...

From my perspective, this is a great read even if one chooses to see it as a fantasy or a heresy, since either way I'll bet the reader will get their hackles up at some point and find themselves more alive for a few moments and that has to be a great thing in itself. For some of us who want to dig deeper, he offers a grounded approach to walking into the unknown and a light at the end of the tunnel, since he managed to come out on the other side of the storm, better for the journey.

If possible, read them in order...

... or freezing cold shower-- choose your metaphor. One of the few "spiritual" authors out there who makes any kind of sense to me...

F every other book but this one

Don't read this book! It will certainly derail your life. If it doesn't you should be seriously worried. This book is a Molotov cocktail. It's a cement truck parked on railroad tracks. It's a bRick in your face. There are no other books.
