Fantastic book
Very well written. Matt makes a difficult subject very understandable. I wish I could give it more stars.
If you are just getting started with Power BI this book is what you need.

Starting from scratch, this book is the best!
If you are new to Power Bi and are willing to do the exercises, this book is the best I've found. It is marked up with my personal notes as I've gone from chapter to chapter. I also downloaded the practice data that systematically advances you from one level to the next. In a short time, I am already creating some of the best reports in our company. I highly recommend it to the serious student.

Excellent training and reference guide
I have purchased a couple of his books and they are excellent, easy to follow, and detailed. Further, Matt follows up via email (if you opt in!), and provides ongoing tips and tricks. As I've progressed in my Power BI journey I have found his materials to be very helpful. I highly recommend!

Best Power BI book I've read thus far. Great for both a beginner, and an experienced user.
This will sound like an ad but...I've gone through 3 Power BI books, and this one is my favorite. The chapters are very logically laid out, focused on practicality, and have constant practice problems so that you practice (& thus retain) what you're reading.
So, it's great as a first book . But, because things are so logically laid out (and labeled), it's also very efficient for a more experienced person - you can very quickly see the subject - then go through it slowly to learn - or if already familiar, skip to the practice problems just to confirm (or not...) that you already have the knowledge.

You need this book.
Matt does a phenomenal job of breaking these concepts down into easily digestible chunks.
Out of all the PowerBI resources around - this is the best place to start for learning DAX.

Of all DAX training books available, this is the only one you will refer to first
I promise you - if you start in Chapter One and work through each problem set, by the end of the book you will have the skills you need. Zero to Hero is an overused phrase, but truly is appropriate here if you simply use this book to learn DAX. You'll also have saved yourself thousands in course fees and travel expenses. Your time commitment? A few hours. Honestly, those who seriously want to learn DAX and establish a solid foundational understanding of the language, you simply need to prioritize your spend for this book.
I purchased Mr. Allington's earlier Learn to Write DAX at the time of publication. My work is in the law, not accounting, not finance, and I have no IT server type of background. Instead, I'm that active consumer of those IT skills. The Power BI suite of tools five years ago were new to many. Developers pushed changes weekly. And I wanted to learn it all. If so, I could limit MS Access to only a few specific needs for data transformation and queries. Then I could not access Power BI, but I had the MS Power Pivot Add-In for Excel 2010. I was on a quest to learn DAX. So, I bought all of the books available on the topic. Great authors with great experience. All had something to offer. And, the Learn to Write DAX volume was the only one I kept, the only one I constantly looked at for a refresh.
This volume, Supercharge Power BI, includes the DAX teaching of his first book all tailored to the Power BI interface. So, now with access to Power BI, this was a beautiful addition to my library. Commit to working through each Chapter. You will have skills at your job that will get you promoted. That's what happened to me. Cheers.

Great Introduction Book
I work for a large company that is implementing Power BI enterprise wide. The company offered "training" and the training wasn't anything special. I'm approximately 100 pages into this book so far (177 pages of instruction total) and this book teaches the true basics of DAX. The instruction is easy to follow and the author does a good job of explaining why he does things a certain way, which then build into additional lessons. If you are new to DAX or Power BI I recommend picking up this book. I plan to lend it to my coworkers once I'm done.

Best Technical Manual Ever Written!
I haven't actually used the manual yet, but upon first opening it, I see that the text and pictures are in large font and is easily readable even by me, who is swapping between bi-focals and reading glasses all day. HECK YES!!! All tech manuals should be this way!

Best DAX focused resource for Power BI in print.
I purchased this from the author before it was published so this may not show me as a verified purchaser, but I am.
It is a fantastic resource for beginning and intermediate DAX users. It focuses on Power BI but you can take these same skills and apply to Power Pivot in Excel using pivot tables rather than Power BI visuals.
It is easy to follow the examples and you really gain a solid understanding of how the DAX engine works and how row context, filter context, and context transition affects your measures.
