Its a little advanced for what I needed

If you are looking to tutor your child into organized sports, I do not suggest this. It's quite advanced, sort of like coaching plays when you don't know what's going on. Not for the novice but more for an intermediate or advanced level American Football player

Read this book to be a better fan

This is a great, concise book with excellent insight into the pro game. It provides a different perspective for casual fans and helps them to understand not just the game, but also the personnel side.

Great Book For Any Football Fan

I've been a casual fan of football for many years, but was never able to follow it well enough to know what kind of play to expect given the formations or personnel on the field before a play. Now I do know and look forward to the coming season so that I can better enjoy the game. This book also goes into how teams prepare for both the upcoming season (in the off season) and weekly opponents. It also has a fairly extensive glossary of football slang that I found very useful. This book has very much ramped up my interest in the game from casual to avid.

Great Book, I'm smarter already!

If you have never played football as I have not since I'm female, but love the game this is your book. You really learn just how hard this game is to play. You will aslo come away with more knowledge, if you really want to understand the game.

Bits of information are incorrect, but decent overall

The book was solid overall, but parts of it are incorrect. For example, he talks about the 3-4 being a "two gap" defense. That most 3-4 teams give their defensive linemen two gap responsibilities. That's no longer the case. That's the old fashioned Bill Parcells 3-4. At most, modern teams will use "hybrid" defenses with maybe one or two linemen occasionally playing two gap roles and everyone else acting as a one gap lineman (think New England). There are a few small problems like that, but, other than that, it was pretty good.

Only for the Intermediate Football Fan Looking to Understand More

Really basic material. As a coach, I thought that I would give this a read to see if there were any interesting tidbits of information, but there weren't.

A great book for new fans and self proclaimed experts

A great book for new fans and self proclaimed experts. I have not yet watched the DVD. A wonderful book for a young football fan. Goes through all the basics, has good graphics. Every football fan should have it.
