Book could use a little more substance. would improve with a few edits too. Author very full of himself

I bought this book as it came up as an advertisement on my facebook feed. This book was an easy read but pretty irritating at times because of how full of himself the author is. He does a good job presenting different challenges in life and how to approach them psychologically (nothing new or anything I haven't read in other books) but the way he overcomes some challenges in a few instances is in no way realistic for I'd say 95% of people and almost humorous at times. A few examples- "I worked really hard ONE summer and erased $35k in debt" "After ONE year I grew my online business to make over $100k of passive income" "After my divorce I decided to go to Europe and take a month long salsa class" LOL like good for this guy that he was very fortunate in life (more than likely had VERY rich parents) but as I stated his quick fixes for things are totally un-realistic for most people. As I stated before I like how he presented some challenges in life but this book could use more substance and the author should probably check his ego at the door. Also never lists his 100 goals!!

Eh!

I bought this book because of all the 5-star reviews. As a travel and adventure junkie, I genuinely expected to be inspired by it-- but sadly, I found it slow and boring. I carefully absorbed page upon page, expecting the pace to pick up, but I just couldn't get into it. Finally, at page 72, I closed the book for good and am going to donate it to my local library. Am wishing I hadn't spent the money on it. But a lot of folks here clearly liked it, so if it calls to you, it's probably worth a read.

Millenial Wanderer (Review by Ryan Mease)

I received a copy and I was asked to submit a review.

I think the principal weakness of the book is that there's nothing challenging or new about this book that you couldn't find from its peers in the market. If you've read e.g. Tim Ferriss, you're unlikely to be blow away by Tal Gur.

The book is mostly autobiographical. Tal has great prose style, but I found his character a little suspect. He does a lot of wandering in the book and he never holds himself accountable for a moral framework that binds together his various goals. He also appears to build and then abandon several important relationships in the book. This book feels like a version of Homer's Odyssey where we're told that Odysseus has to wander around for ten years in order to find himself and become an adult. I found Tal's life to be kind of sad, which is why I would struggle to recommend it to anyone who really want to grow or find direction or drive in their lives.

Quick read that inspires you to pursue your life goals

This book is a quick, fast-paced read, and at times you get exhausted just following along on Tal’s adventures. He’s clearly a passionate, driven individual and you’ve got to admire his determination and tenacity. It’s not for everyone to live like this; for example, he has the ability to earn enough money to constantly travel around the world and take expensive retreats and classes.
The book moves quickly through the years and is short on detail; oddly, the 100 goals are actually not listed in the book (you have to go to his website to see them). Yet his quest is inspiring and his “joie de vivre” is contagious. There are several nuggets of wisdom, such as his recipe for success, which is “commitment, immersion, discipline,” – principles that he has put into practice many times over the years.
While Tal is very goal-oriented and does accomplish his list of 100 goals in ten years, he also talks about how he has learned to focus on the process rather than the outcome, surrendering to the present moment, and being in the flow. I recommend this book as a quick read that will give you fresh inspiration to pursue your own life’s journey.

A Masterful Blueprint to Exceed Your Own Expectations

From start to finish, this book never disappoints as the author sets his sights on conquering fears that the mind would normally stop you from achieving. Each decision process is revealed before he attempts the next milestone, which I appreciate since jumping into new situations takes tenacity and balance not often exposed to readers.

The author shares determination, humility, and bravery through each professional or personal goal he masters or misses. This story will keep you on a high wire until the final outcome. You'll also gain insight into your own abilities and hopefully take steps to grab your own brass ring.

Great overall read.

The ultimate bucket list, one man, on the quest to figure out how to achieve life satisfaction by completing his goals.
Everything from becoming fluent in a language, facing fear of rejection to embracing uncertainty and much more.
Laced with real life scenarios and knowledge earned this book is an adventure worth reading.

Practical advice and wisdom is given creating a type of personal development/ memoir feel to this book. Written in a journal/conversational tone it will appeal to the masses.

Three nuggets of wisdom:

1. Embrace discomfort- it can be any challenge you want to take on but it must be done consistently to reap the benefits and keep up your momentum. (One suggestion is too pick something that could become part of your daily routine ( get up at sunrise, take cold showers) for 30 days (30 day challenges)

2. The only true measurement of commitment is action- what kind of action are you willing to commit to, to fulfill your dreams. Attach your commitments to real consequences. Writing your goals will only get you to the starting line. Taking action with real consequences will send to the finish line.

3. Hold true to your boundaries by practicing the art of saying “NO”

Great over all read, a needed push to begin your own journey and get off the side lines of your life.

Inspiring reading

Tal Gur is a courageous man who decided to tell his own story to show us how life can be different, how we can recreate ourselves and how we have to separate in our lives what is essential from the rest.
Sometimes this book took my breath away, as it seems the author is always jumping from one goal to another one, from small objectives to greater ones.
The book is also a self-help manual, so I can honestly say, not my cup of tea, but despite the fact I don’t like the genre, readers are going to be inspired by the author’s aspirations and achievements. Even if I don’t appreciate self-help guides I was certainly motivated by Mr. Gur to settle some goals in my own life.
I have a remark about the pace, the book is slow for my taste but as said before, I use to read fiction and it is a totally different rhythm.
In my opinion, if the reader likes this kind of book, this book is a good choice, an inspiring one.
I've received this book for an honest review.

I found this description to be the best way to explaining what the book is about

The Art of Fully Living is a self-help book, in a memoir style of genre, about a man who aims to live life to the fullest. The goal is clear but, appears to be not as simple as you hear. Tal Gur uses his own experience in order to prove that such a way of living is possible. I found this description to be the best way to explaining what the book is about:

“The very structure of this book models Tal’s immersive approach to goal-driven living: each chapter of The Art of Fully Living is dedicated to a year of focus—socializing, fitness, freedom, contribution, love, adventure, wealth, relationship, spirituality, and creativity—and follows Tal’s endeavors as he works toward fulfilling 100 life goals in only 10 years.”

There are many books similar to this one wanting to assist the reader in a better living situation. Ways to achieve your goals or to live happily seems to be trending in the book industry these days. What I believe made this book different was that he set a number for the amount of goals he had and it wasn’t all set to be big ones either. He attempted to turn passion into a living, and instead of complicating things, he simplified them. You would think that setting 100 goals would be a lot but, since he applied the things I mentioned, it did not appear to be as hard as it originally made me feel.

The literature was easy to understand and had a nice flow to it. The author appeared to write in a caring and upbeat tone. Another positive move the author makes is convincing the reader that the journey is doable.

Although the book is set as a memoir, I believe it is more of a self-help and well- being book. I recommend it to people that wish to make a change in the way they live.

It's the journey, not the destination, that's important

I am a big goal setter, so I was interested in reading about the bucket list Tal set for himself. I confess, it was difficult for me to relate to many of them. His aspirations are very different from mine. The book seemed to me to be part travelogue and part coming of age story. Or maybe the tale of an early mid-life crisis. Interesting enough, but I have no desire to visit the places he did, and my own mid-life crisis is far behind me. Eventually life lessons emerge that resonated more with me. Tal learned that being in a relationship doesn't mean completely submerging yourself to your partner's wishes. Another important takeaway to me was that process is more important than the goals themselves.

4/5th Perfect!

This is a well written and engaging book. I appreciated the stories along with the practical guidance and important questions that were asked of the reader. The only reason that I removed one star was that the ending of the book felt abrupt and premature from my perspective. It left me thinking that Tal hadn't had enough time to fully process his interesting journey yet.
