Bait and switch

Scam! This book is a sales pitch for the high priced virtual training. Save yourself the money - the eating plan is keto. Now you know as much as I do after reading this book.

A biography, not a diet book

Unfortunately I returned this book. There are no actual diet, recipe, or menu ideas anywhere in it. It is mainly a book of weight loss success stories and motivationals with very repetitive prose. When diet modification are mentioned, it’s essentially Atkins adding carrots, less cheese, and drinking a bunch of water. There isn’t a meal plan anywhere, and while it promotes constant metricizing of food (weigh it all and record it), there is no guidance on exactly how much to eat of anything. Definitely not a cookbook.

This is a scam - don't let this book or her website get you to buy anything!

This program is not worth the money. They make some very strong statements like "90 days of hard-core coaching with your chosen coach", "Coaching video: Once a week, your Coach will be live in the page answering your questions, troubleshooting problems and providing coaching for each one of you. He/she will also comment on your weight loss progress." and finally, "Access to your Coach. He/she will interact with you on the page each day, answering comments, questions, concerns, etc…" The term "coach" should be used very loosely. My "coach" had what appeared to be several hundred clients. During my 90 days, I can definitively say that I received ZERO coaching - hard core, or any other kind. The weekly coaching video was an hour that consisted of my coach reading the GIANT list of names and stating whether or not they hit their 1% weight loss goal. A call like that is not coaching. It's public shaming. Why not just take me out and stone me in the street for "failing"? I heard my "coach" call people despicable for not having lost weight or having gained weight, and she also utilized a "damn-it doll" which was shown in disappointment for people of the same category. This is not motivation or coaching. This is emotional and verbal abuse and embarrassment. The amount of time that I was expected to spend on Facebook, watching videos that had little if any actual coaching was unreasonable and unacceptable. Never, in all of the videos or interactions that I had with my coach, did I feel uplifted or supported. In fact, on the 2 occasions where I actually reached out for help, my coach did not respond - it was other participants who also paid the $1,000 who provided me with some answers. It is clear to me that my coach does not have time to properly support us - her answers to others (since I never received any) were curt, short, and looked canned...not personal, and not "coach-y". The other items on the list that defines what you get when you drop a GRAND for a custom program are deceiving. for the most part, they are PDF documents, some of which I received when I signed up for the challenge. Others are 1 page documents, though they are made to sound like learning opportunities (I expected to be "coached" on these things". Finally, anytime people actually want to LEARN and ask specific questions about WHY or HOW something works...the answer is to just follow the rules. Listen to Cristy. Basically, follow with blind faith. If Cristy was strong in her convictions and beliefs, and truly thought her program was the best, she'd be able/willing to answer questions, to help people understand how they ended up where they are, and how to prevent ever going back. But she just seems to want both a cult-like following, as well as return business, as people gain the weight back, because she didn't actually TEACH them anything. She is looking for followers. Sheep. I have never been more dissatisfied with such a high-ticket purchase. I do not believe that I received $1,000 in services. I have advised people, and will continue to advise people NOT to purchase custom programs, as they are a SCAM.

Not worth the money if you know how to google

This book is a sales pitch for her more expensive programs that can cost you thousands of dollars. There are no meal plans in the book. If you know how to google "keto" you can get all the same information without joining her cult and taking out loans for her programs. She only gives you enough information to confuse you so you have to pay her for more info. Don't waste your money!

Code Red isn't new just harsher

The Code Red Revolution isn't anything new it's very similar to the Atkins diet and Eat Fat Get Thin. It's all about giving up the carbs and anything that may on the back end of digestion become sugar. So normally healthy foods like quinoa and beans are out. Now don't get me wrong I have a gluten intolerance so giving up bread and pasta was no big deal. And I love eating high protein meals but it's incredibly expensive to get rid of everything in your pantry and eat this way. Now I won't deny that there are many who have benefited from this eating approach half the book is the testimonials of people who've lost incredible amounts of weight while following this plan to a tee, I too benefited the first couple of days from eating high protein no carbs but it's not sustainable. And strangely I found myself drooling over things like peanut butter and quinoa and bananas, all things you can't have on this program. I wasn't missing heaping spoons of sugar or soda or ice cream or other in your face sugary substances but I was missing normal healthy everyday foods that are completely banned. So it's up on the shelf next to all my other no carb / low carb diet books waiting for the day that I have so much disposable income that I can just spend more money eating in then I would spend eating out. And no I'm not eating out I'm just using that as an example of the dollar amount that it takes. And yes eggs are relatively inexpensive compared to other protein sources but after a week of eating nothing but eggs, I really don't want to see another egg for a very long time.

This is the first time that I was able to lose weight by eating food I actually enjoy and not feel deprived or starved

Cristy has helped me change the way that I look at food. I had tried every diet imaginable and have yoyo dieted my entire adult life. This is the first time that I was able to lose weight by eating food I actually enjoy and not feel deprived or starved. The scale moved more than any other plan I have ever used. I was able to lose 50 lbs in 5 months! I will never go back. Thank you Cristy for changing my life. Oh and my husband has lost over 50 pounds as well just by adopting her rules! Its simple, just follow her rules!

Contradictions, Money, and Grammatical Errors! Oh My!

I did the keto diet for all of 2016 and lost 45 pounds. Since that time, I've unfortunately gained back the weight. I was looking for this book to help motivate me to get back to low-carb and gain some longer-term insight on this way of eating. I wanted to cement my thoughts of low-carb, and press forward into a future with no sugar.

The pros of this book:
- It's motivating, it's encouraging, it starts off very strong.
- Cristy makes it seem so simple.

The cons of this book:
- Grammatical errors, use of the word "heighth" (****cringe!****) and "unconscious" when she means "subconscious"
- All the classic low-carb contradictions galore (involving calories mostly: the first half of the book talks about how *calories in/calories out* is a myth of the diet industry, and then later: she says if you are stalling, it's probably calories?? lol)
- Contradictions: In the beginning of the book she says that needing to exercise is myth of weight loss, very convincing argument she makes - how you "can't out-exercise your fork", you should take a walk when you "feel like it", not for weight loss. She says exercise helps your heart and lungs and is not needed to lose weight. Several chapters later, she's all fired up about her "Code Red Rebels" and she says things like: "Do you want to be like us?? The Code Red Rebels get up at 5AM to work out!" She also bashes dairy, says to avoid it — but in the second half of the book, she says you might be stalled because you aren’t measuring the creamer in your coffee. She explains how your creamer serving shouldn’t be “heaping”, you should level it off... to what amount? Who knows?
- Information is not complete on measuring foods (she stresses it's so important to measure, but never says how much or what to eat). She references a food list that is just "eat" and "don't eat" (I am listening on audio, so I probably have to google)
- AND THE BEST FOR LAST: The first half of the book, she bashes the diet industry for constantly wanting to make money off of us, and how no one should have to pay for foods or services, it's all very simple. Well, before you buy this book, GOOGLE HER. In order to join the Facebook group she references in this book repeatedly, YOU HAVE TO PAY HER FOR COACHING. Several hundred dollars a month. I tried joining the Facebook group, and it prompted questions about whether I am a paying member to her "program". I said, "No, I bought the book and I am looking for support" . No reply whatsoever, I was just rejected to join the group! Which is fine, it's probably just like any other low-carb group - success stories, failures, etc.

If I would have know all of this when I started reading the book, I would have stopped half way through.

With all of this said, I am still following low carb and doing well with it. I hope this review helps someone.

I'm going to try it.

Very interesting way to look at loosing weight. I plan to try it. A little disappointed that it doesn't give calorie count limit or food measurements that you should stick to but understand the theory that every person is different so there isn't one perfect number for everyone. It would be good to have a starting point though as it is repeated throughout the book that you have to measure every single thing you plan to eat. I suppose you have to pay for one of the support programs to get that insight. Still plan to try it though and see where I get with my idea of a proper serving size. (Although that might be why I need to loose weight to begin with) The book tells you to go to the resource site, to get a food list, but the resource page only has items to sell. As I said I plan to try this because it makes sense but I wish this book had given just a few more details. But, I understand Cristy can't put all her knowledge in a book, otherwise no one would pay for the programs she offers.

Save your Money and Google Keto Diet

Got the book and read it cover to cover. Christy doesn't really explain too much from a scientific aspect. This book is simply a Keto diet. Christy doesn't recommend going to the gym, which surprises me since her background is boxing / gym related. Bodybuilding.com has great Keto recipes and articles breaking the Keto diet down and why it works. I would suggest checking out that site and going to gym. Burn the stored fat and tone up simultaneously.
