Some recipes call for brand specific specialty flours ...

First let me say that this is a wonderful cookbook overall.
Lovely pictures, nice layout, and good recipes ....... BUT ...... it calls for brand specific specialty flours that are not always easy to find in stores (I couldn't find them and had to order online) and can be pretty expensive. I had other GF brands on hand. The author states in recipes that using other brands will yield different results and I want to judge the recipe based on what she intended the recipes to taste/turnout like. Exp: Buttermilk Biscuits on Pg.19 paragraph 2).
I would LOVE to see the author test other flour brands and then given suitable substitutions for these (and a bonus if she would have included recipe adjustments for non GF flours as to open this book up to a wider audience!).
With all that being said, please don't let that shy you away from this cookbook! It is defiantly worth the purchase and will be a very useful tool this school year (no matter if your school is remote or in-person learning!). And be sure to check out her website for a lot more wonderful recipes you can certainly use in those lunchboxes!!! Wonderful book Renee!!!

Not impressed. Complicated ingredients

I love to cook, but I wanted some simple ideas for finger foods for daycare. There is nothing simple about this book. My pantry and refrigerator are stocked with ingredients, but I could not make a single thing without having to go to the grocery store and buy something. They’re using specific brand flours, while its a wholesome food book, it’s over the top. I feel like I am reading some specific diet book. I’m still sitting and debating if I should return it or keep it, but I do not see myself making a single dish from A-to-Z. Just as someone else mentioned it’s more for getting an idea, rather than following through with the recipe.

Definitely a great cookbook

I have made many of Renee’s recipes from her cookbooks and blog, and my family always LOVES the meals. Several of my daughters favorite meals are made from Renee’s recipes. I just made the pancakes from this cookbook over the weekend and my husband and kids raved about them.
In addition to just being yummy, Renee’s recipes, cooking and eating lifestyle are the epitome of how we should be feeding our kids (and on a budget, no less!). She’s an inspiration for me as a mother and foodie, and I’m just some random person who found her on Instagram.
Buy her books! You won’t be disappointed once you make her recipes and watch your family gobble down good, clean, nutritious food.

Super kid-friendly and delicious!

My kids were all over this book as soon as it arrived in the mail. They have loved everything I've made so far! I love how easy the recipes are to follow, and that they don't call for any strange, hard-to-get ingredients.

Homemade Food Kids WANT to Eat

*I haven’t actually cooked any of these recipes yet* but just looking through it has me excited! I make recipes every week from Renee’s blog and own her first cookbook so I couldn’t wait for this one. The recipes are straightforward with a picture for every single one! They look fun and delicious, totally the food my kids want to eat. They looked through it too and begged me to make the build your own parfait, the “pink” salad dressing, the sloppy joe bites, basically every recipe honestly. I can’t wait to try the Garden Party Quesadillas and the Confetti Bean Salad! The philosophy of “one homemade thing per lunchbox” is so doable and valuable in how busy parents plan and nourish growing kids. Highly recommend this cookbook for anyone who eats lunch!

Bento box family? BUY THIS!

I needed a cookbook that my child could choose their own recipes from (eating therapy tip!). We have Bentgo boxes for school and this book has GREAT, healthy recipes, is FULL of beautiful pictures that make all the different foods look fun, and uses all kinds of bento boxes (including Bentgo!). So your child can see what their meal might look like ahead of time, in their own Bento box! Home made lunchable ideas, grain free recipes… such a huge fan. Wish I could buy this for every parent trying new ideas to get their kiddos exposed to more foods!!!

Get it!

I love it for my son's school lunches and so far the only complaint he's had so far is the crackers for the homemade lunchable. He said they weren't store bought so he didn't like them but they are a work in progress haha

The lunch box book I’ve been waiting for

I’ve been waiting for this cookbook ever since I received “Nourished Beginnings” and started following “Generation Nourished” on Instagram and Facebook. So many great lunch box ideas on her social media, I asked her 3 years ago when she was going to compile all of these great ideas into a book for parents like me who get stuck in the ‘lunch rut’ of a sandwich, apple and chips. When I get stuck in the lunch rut I just have to open the book for inspiration.

great cookbook!

I loved Renee's first cookbook to get your baby started on solid foods. My baby is now almost 1 and i got this book to start to add in some new recipes. They are great and easy and so fun! The whole family has the same food, some times my son as a deconstructed version so he can see all the different things and he can choose what and how much to eat. I'm hoping as he gets older we can make the recipes together.
