Beautiful Book, Not Practical

This is an intriguing book that anyone could use if they are interested in natural health or healing. Here are my thoughts:

Pros:

This is a beautifully made book with lots of great photos. If nothing else, you can definitely enjoy perusing it and displaying it on your book shelf or coffee table.

Some of the recipes do look delicious and I plan to try making them, especially the vegetable and poultry recipes.

Cons:

Many of the recipes are more of the gourmet-ish variety and most seem geared toward dinner type dishes. It would be nice to have some recipes for breakfast dishes and for quick lunch type items such as sandwiches. The book is not super practical for the average person with a full time job.

I doubt I will make any of the recipes for potions and body care items. There are too many great natural products out there I can purchase. I would have preferred more food recipes and less of this type of thing.

Some of the recipes use really exotic ingredients that I probably wouldn't ever purchase, such as quail and octopus. I was also very disappointed to see the author using veal in a lot of the meat recipes as veal is produced using very cruel and inhumane methods.

Overall, if you enjoy gourmet cooking and natural healing, you will enjoy this book.

Not What I Hoped For

I was very excited to receive this book when it arrived. The layout is beautiful and the photos are striking. However, there are many recipes calling for odd or difficult to find ingredients. I paged through the entire book and couldn't justify keeping it. The section on self-care had so many recipes for DIY skincare lotions etc. I have very sensitive skin so this was a no-go for me. All in all there are just too few recipes I'd make from this book. I gave it 3 stars for the opening content going into the history of Wicca which I found very interesting and helpful. Will be returning.
