5 Star IF it's a firsttime NYT medium difficulty puzzle purchase

I'd really enjoy this if I didn't buy the Easy/Medium/Hard NYT puzzle book. There are many of the same puzzles in both books at the medium level. Considering the vast amounts of puzzles from NYT why the heck are they duplicating them so much?

Poor binding

The spiral binding completely fell apart when the book was opened. Poor quality.

Missing informative puzzle titles

Puzzles do not have the titles they had in the newspaper.

Good level but no themes

We enjoyed this book but we were disappointed there were no themes. We had done the Thursday book previously, which was a lot of fun because it had themes. After reading that the Wednesday book had themes, we ordered that but it has been too easy. We will probably either get Saturday next or switch to a different series if we can find one with themes. The puzzles are easy to see and are a good size. We don’t like huge puzzles but prefer ones that can be done in an hour or less before dropping off to sleep.

Good, challenging puzzles

My usual practice has been to go to the library each week and copy the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday NYT crossword puzzles, so I was glad to find this book. The puzzles were good, and it was satisfying to check off each one as I solved it (though there are still a few that I haven't finished, and I dare not look at the answer keys in the back). Btw, there are answer keys in the back, for less stout-hearted puzzle folk.

Am now at a crossroads...do I forge onward to the Saturday book, where I risk losing much of my $9.95, or move backward to the Thursday book?

I did much better on the Wednesday 🧩

These puzzles are pretty hard, I must admit. I only get a few answers at a time, leave it alone and then come back to it. You really have to have a vast array of knowledge and have to think outside the box. I did much better on the Wednesday puzzles!
