The Night the World Turned Royal Blue (The Road to the World)

Bought this partly for my 2 boys (3 and 5 years old) as a new bedtime story, and mostly for me as a long time Royals fan. It is a terrific book, and an amazing retelling of the Wildcard Game from the Royals incredible 2014 Playoff run. The illustrations are terrific and funny, and the book itself has some great tongue-in-cheek moments for adults, while keeping a terrific poetic flow through the story. It gave me chills as it developed through and described the different moments of the Wildcard game. I'll probably ask my kids to let me read this to them more often than they'll ask me to read it! Would be a great buy for any Royals fan, with or without kids.

I was excited to see this book on amazon, and I ordered it right away. It did not disappoint! I was fortunate enough to attend that Wild Card game, and I got goosebumps reading through the book and remembering that incredible night. Both the rhyming story and the pictures are really cute and I've already read it to my kids several times - and we just got it this morning! Our baby was with us that night, and although she won't remember the game, I love that I'll be able to read her this story and tell her that she was there.

He was born in 1985 - the year the Royals last did well. Now that they are doing great, this was a perfect gift. The story, written by a Royals player, is a great grown-up story book, detailing the rise back to greatness. The artwork is enchanting, just as the story is. This is a great gift for your Royals fan.

Really cute story of never giving up on a dream for kids of all ages. My middle school students enjoyed the story, of course we are in Royals land.

A wonderful book to read to any child who likes the Royals and understands baseball terminology. Especially great for Holden who remember the series last year! My son loved it.

Great book for a Royals fan. We were at that wild card game on my son's 29th birthday. It was the best game I've ever seen and it's wonderful to have a fun book to memorialize it. We will cherish the memory forever.

A true story of exciting baseball action. An uplifting tale of the Wildcard Playoffs in 2014. Its like the poem "Casey at the Bat" but in this version, Casey hits it out of the park and wins the game.

What an incredible journey and reminder of the Royals playoff game. My child loves it, and I love reading it too!

Most amazing children's book enjoyed by adults everywhere! Loved the rhythm of the story and the well written verses. Must have for Royals fans of any age.

As a KC mom with kids too old for this, I actually bought it for myself. It will be a forever keepsake in this house and a great reminder of an amazing night (month) in KC!
