Features & Highlights

  • This book (for Windows and Mac) breaks new ground by doing something for digital photographers that's never been done before–it cuts through the bull and shows exactly "how to do it." It's not a bunch of theory; it doesn't challenge readers to come up with their own settings or figure things out on their own. Instead, it tells readers flat-out which settings to use, when to use them, and why. This book gives the inside tips and tricks of the trade for organizing, correcting, editing, sharpening, retouching, and presenting photos like a pro. Readers will be absolutely amazed at how easy and effective these techniques are–once they know the secrets. This book covers: -The real secrets of how the pros retouch portraits -How to color correct any photo without breaking a sweat -How to use Camera Raw for processing not only RAW photos, but JPEGs and TIFFs, too! -The sharpening techniques the pros really use -How to deal with common digital camera image problems, including removing noise and avoiding halos -The most requested photographic special effects -All the brand new features of Elements 11, which offers better ways to manage photos, map images, share memories, use templates, and easily create pro-quality photographic effects And the book's secret weapon: It also covers slick workarounds, cheats, and some fairly ingenious ways to replicate many Photoshop CS6 features from right within Elements 11.-And much more!

This series is the best of the how-to Elements books I have found.

The other Elements how-to books say, "you can do this and you can do that", but few ever show you how to actually use Elements. This series is a collection of actual lessons you can do. You can even download many of the photos used in the book to do the lessons. Now it is my primary Photoshop Elements resource.

The Photoshop Elements 11 Book

I have never used Photoshop or Photoshop Elements before so I found the book to be very helpful. I liked the fact that
you could go directly to what you wanted to do without reading the whole book first. I found it very easy to read and
follow. I would highly recommend this book to first time users and maybe some advanced users too.

Very Useful, Lots of Good Information

I have several other Kelby books and have found all of them to be well written, full of useful information, and easy to use. You should be aware that this book will NOT teach you everything there is to know about Photoshop Elements. As the title says, it is geared toward digital photography and concentrates on the tools and techniques that the digital photographer needs to know how to use. This book does cover the latest additions to version 11 such as the much improved Refine Edge function, which takes some practice to use effectively, and is not easily learned just by experimenting on your own..

Chocked full of information

I would recommend this book to individuals who are interested in certain aspects of photography in Photoshop Elements. I would not recommend it for someone who has no previoius knowledge of Photoshop Elements. In my opinion another book for learning the very basics would be less frustrating but once that knowledge is grasped, this book would be appropriate for anyone with a desires to achieve great looking photographs.

Not for Beginners

I like the writing style but this book just isn't for beginners. Mr. Kelby doesn't cover all the basic tools so I have no idea why I'm using a certain tool. I also bought his Lightroom 4 book and it was phenomenal! I was expecting the PSE 11 book to be similar but it's not. I'm sure once I have a better grasp of the basics this book will be very handy and make more sense.

Another great Kelby book

I believe I have all of Scott Kelby's books relating to Photoshop and Lightroom software. Plenty of photo's with step by step instructions. If you own Elements 11 you need this book. There was a price reduction after I pre ordered and Amazon returned .38 cents. How honest is that? Great product and company to do business with.

For a very limited readership

When this book arrived, I was very excited about getting started with my learning of Elements 11. Now, a week later, I'm quite disappointed. The book is too advanced for beginners, and not very interesting or challenging for more advanced Elements users.
I purchased Kelby's Elements 6 book and got a lot out of it. Not so, this one.

Photo Projects Don't Work for me.

Tried some of the projects, could not complete, followed directions outcome not the same, no tips about what could go wrong and how to correct it. If I can't complete a project, I feel I didn't learn anything
