Features & Highlights

  • The second saga of Anne Brown and the Colebridge Community! In The Basement Quilt, the debut novel by Ann Hazelwood, you got to know the family and friends of Anne Brown, a plucky florist whose daily ups and downs are as familiar as your own. In this follow-up book, Anne and her fiance, Sam, start house-hunting, or is that haunting? Once again, a quilt holds keys and clues to important family secrets, but whose family is it this time? And why would anyone hide a quilt in a potting shed? Life continues apace for Anne's family and friends, too. Share in their joys and sorrows as Colebridge goes about every community's business. The Potting Shed Quilt is not just the title of this sequel-the quilt itself is a character. You'll want to meet other quilt 'characters' throughout the series.

Ridiculous

Everyone should have someone in their life that has the courage to tell them the truth. In this case, the author needs to be told she is an awful writer. Stiff, silly, antiquated dialogue is the worst part of the two books I read (I tried to give the series a second chance.) Almost as bad is the pathetic main character - self described as independent and strong, but too scared to look in the attic without her boyfriend?!! Almost forgot - the actual quilting part is completely unreal. I will give almost any genre a try, but this was a huge waste of time and money.

Not again!

Once again, the severe overuse of the phrase "hmmmm" has me doubting that I will even continue past the second chapter of this book. The stilted, excessively proper speaking manner of the characters are enough to bear! Cute story line, but face it. There are TONS of quilt-themed books available that are way better written.

One Star

Very disappointing. Writing was extremely amateurish. Will not try slogging through another by that author.

thinking they'd be good. WORST books I ever read

Most quilting mysteries are quite entertaining. . . or at least that was my past experience with other writers. Not so in this case. I made the mistake of ordering the whole set of books. . . thinking they'd be good. WORST books I ever read. The author cannot write at all. I do not recommend. None of the books in this series redeem themselves. I tore them up. . . so no one would have to suffer thru them as I did.

Book Two - The Potting Shed Quilt

This one is even better than the first in the Colebridge Community series. I found it hard to put the book down, trying to see what comes next. I loved the additions to the family and the mysteries that are a part of this book. I also like how the author writes about the grandmother and her interaction, although it a ghostly one. Grandmother is a good ghost, but a bit mischievous. Can hardly wait to start book three.

Christmas gift

This is a gift for my mother who has everything. We live in Missouri and I thought she would enjoy this author. The books were only in paperback and she likes to keep hardcovers of authors she likes. I’m sure she will keep and like these books
