loved!

i loved this book! was a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews because I don't know anything about tennis. You don't need to have any knowledge of the sport to enjoy this book. It's an easy read, and my third book by the author.

Especially if you are a tennis fan, a must-read for EVERYONE!!!

As an avid tennis fan, this book was absolutely fantastic! I felt like I was at every match in person, and the story was engaging and delightful! Couldn’t put it down.

Not enough tennis

I find it interesting that some gave this book low ratings because it had too much tennis info. For me it was the opposite. I am a former tennis player (collegiate and amateur tournaments) and would like to have seen this book contain more tennis. For most of the tournaments, and there were few, the author skipped to the semifinal or final rounds. This would be a fun read for those who are not much interested in tennis but want a light story.

The author did get into some of the details of what happens on the tour aside from the matches; the workouts, hitting partners, interaction with coaches. When she did get into the matches, the author did a decent job of portraying a player's mental framework during play. Other than that, tennis was a side attraction in this book. I've not read any others by the author and see that some reviewers have labeled this her worst book. I would hope that her best books are better efforts.

Not my favorite, but was ok

I love this author but this was not my favorite book. The ending was predictable and wrapped up too quickly at the end.

Good beach read

The beginning and the end of The Singles Game are great! I can't lie and say that the middle bored me a bit, was slow, and took me a while to get through. As an athlete who never experienced this intrasport drama, I was interested in hearing about this from the perspective of someone my age (in Charlie Silver). I recommend buying this book if you are looking for a light, mind-numbing beach read!

It wasn’t that great, but it kept me hooked

The Singles Game turned out to be ‘not half bad’. Even though I’ve watched The Devil Wears Prada at least a dozen times. This is actually the first book/work I’ve ever read by Lauren Weisberger. So I really had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Let’s just say it was a pleasant surprise. It wasn’t that great, but it kept me hooked. I have to admit, if Lauren got me interested in reading a book about sports, then she must be some sort of writing goddess. Her other ‘non-sporty’ books must be AMAZING! I might actually get a few more of her books just to test this theory out.
