A gentle story

This book is not "the true" Easter story by any means, but it will please people who are looking for an Easter story that focuses less on "getting" (as many popular character Easter stories do)and more on the spirit of doing for others. A good story to share with a group of children, suited for ages 3 - 8.

Add this one to your library!

Beautiful illustrations in a story that focuses on giving and helping others rather than on the religious aspects of the holiday make this a good choice as a read aloud for a primary classroom in a public school.

The Story of the Easter Bunny

My grandchildren, ages 2, 3, & 4, listened intently to the end. This is an accomplishment within itself, then all yelled "read it again Nanny." What more can you ask for!!!

She loved the pictures and just playing with the book alone

[[ASIN:0060587814 The Story of the Easter Bunny]]I bought this for a friends child. She loved the pictures and just playing with the book alone. She sat and listened to the whole story. I think this is a very cute book, the illustrations are beautiful. A sweet story about an old couple and their pet rabbit , and how they worked hard to make Easter a happy occasion for all the little boys and girls. It's a story you will never get tired of reading and your kids will never tire of hearing!

Great find!

The Easter Bunny left my son this book last year and we've read it countless times in the year since. The artwork is wonderful, the story concise yet thorough, and the characters endearing. It's a story you will never get tired of reading and your kids will never tire of hearing!

Darling Story for Young Children

We really liked this story. I checked it out from the library for my two year old daughter. The illustrations are done mostly in muted tones and pastels, which I guess is why my daughter wasn't very stimulated by it. She kept wanting to turn the pages before I was done reading. I really enjoyed the story and the illustrations, so I think that maybe my daughter was just not old enough for this story. This might be better for 3-6 year olds. I plan to check it out from the library again next year and give it another try.

There is no mention of the religious aspects of Easter, though I do believe that they are implied (there are drawings of churches in the village where the old couple live) and I don't think that in this story the Easter Bunny takes the place of Jesus. I think having this alongside another book which tells the story of Jesus would be a great way to have the best of both worlds when it comes to secular and religious sides of a holiday.
