Description

Well lets just say this book takes the phrase 'action packed' too a whole new level. Goodreads Reviewer This book brought me out of a killer reading slump just to dump me straight back in once I'd finished. If that doesn't express the amazingness of this book, I don't know what to say. - Enchanted by YA book blog Book two of the Dragonian series! Okay, so I'll summarize everything with this: Everything is mind blowing and it's FRAWSOME; in a dark kind of way - Goodreads There are not enough words to describe how much I love this series. The books are amazing and they drag you into this fantastical world that you never want to leave. Some of the times you get frustrated with Elena and others because you have to wonder how no one has figured out the obvious (i won't spoil anything and if you have read the books i am sure you know exactly what I'm talking about) but at the same time if the characters did figure it out right from the start the books would be way less interesting. Adrienne Woods knows what she is doing. This BOOK! I thought i knew exactly where she was going with it, but then i got to the end. Damn!!! I cried and got angry, but I realized after a short time of recovery that it needed to be this way for the truth to come out. Even though it totally broke my heart! And Paul! Ughhhh I hate him! I hate him and the people he stands for. But seriously, this book had me laughing, crying, frustrated, excited, and pretty much on a roller coaster of emotions the whole time and i loved every second of it!

Features & Highlights

  • Vibrant, scale swathed wings… Abilities that can be harnessed by a chosen few… Dragons… All this may seem like old news, but for seventeen year-old Elena Watkins the world of Paegeia is not finished revealing all its secrets. During a summer break intended for relaxation, she discovers that her harrowing adventure to retrieve the King of Lion sword wasn’t the destiny foretold by the cryptic Viden, a dragon with the ability to see a person’s true fate. The words inked onto the page of the mysterious Book of Shadows remains black and Elena must return to Dragonia Academy to discover their true meaning. Upon her return to the magnificent castle she has to face a challenge of a different kind, keeping her boyfriend Lucian McKenzie, the Prince of Tith and love of her life, away from the dangerous new student, Paul Sutton. As a Wyvern, Paul has made it his mission to claim Elena as his rider but he is proving to be more perilous than at first glance. Everyone knew that Wyverns were bad news, and just as evil as the darkness that lurked inside Blake Leaf, the Rubicon forced to fight against his inner nature every day. But Elena can see a small light lurking in the darkness, a destiny still unfulfilled; to prove that Wyverns can be claimed. Will Lucian’s dark secret about Wyverns and Elena’s need to prove their true nature cause their love to be torn apart? And which of Elena’s friends will be sacrificed this time if she is wrong?

Ugh, my heart

I'm obsessed with this series because it depicts a girl's life journey through difficult times. Thrust into a magical world she didn't know she came from, attending an elite academy full of dragons and their riders, and given all the things she craved before she lost her life on the run with her father, Elena goes from being overprotected to being constantly compared to and judged. Her new friends and boyfriend help to conquer it with every day that comes their way, but for Elena, I feel that things aren't always going right for her, and there's always something to cause a rift in the people she's meant to put her entire faith in.

One of the reasons why I find this series so interesting is because of how much all my favorite things are in it. Elena's failings is one of them, seeing her try again and again to do what's right by her. She's young, and one of the few YA MCs that I will actually enjoy reading without wondering how implausible things could be. There are still times, though, when I feel like she's being difficult, as things are getting a little darker and more confusing. I'm starting to see a stubborn side of her I don't know if I like, just yet. It definitely keeps me on my toes wondering what'll happen.

I'm in love with this series, but gave this four stars because of the many errors and run-on sentences that disrupted the otherwise excellent flow of writing. If only those things were fixed... A few scenes dragged, but I still can't stop myself from reading on because at the same time, I enjoy this lengthy type of writing style. If I love it, I could read it for days without pause, but whenever difficult scenes come up, that's when things start to lag a bit. Still, it was pretty good, though personally taxing because I'd guessed what was going to happen, based on who are characters were from the start. Devastating, but satisfying and confusing at the same time. If you love fantasy, young characters learning to grow up, action and evil, check this out.

Love the story and characters

I love this story and all of the characters! My main issue is some of the side plots fall short and never have conclusions. But if you love fantasy, dragons and don’t mind some plot holes and minor grammatical errors I recommend this book.

A bit better than the first and still the dragons saved this series...

After reading the first book I was glad there was an improvement if only slightly. Once again I could care less about Elena. Her naivety and lack of common sense is unbelievable. The constant use of the word "giggle" and repetitive descriptions make it hard to read when the author prolongs a scene. Also it gets a bit confusing when the author talks about the different types dragons because the author describes Elena as one type of dragon but then is referred to as another one so I don't know if it was a typo error or the author forgot what she wrote. Also, there were some scenes the had referenced about a previous event but was never explained or mentioned in the book. The only thing that kept me interested in the story was the dragons and once again it was the authors saving grace.
