About the Author Sui Ishida was born in Fukuoka, Japan. He is the author of Tokyo Ghoul and several Tokyo Ghoul one-shots, including one that won him second place in the Weekly Young Jump 113th Grand Prix award in 2010. Tokyo Ghoul began serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2011 and was adapted into an anime series in 2014.

Features & Highlights

  • In the world of Tokyo Ghoul, sometimes the only way to fight monsters is to become one…
  • The Commission of Counter Ghoul is the only organization fighting the Ghoul menace, and they will use every tool at their disposal to protect humanity from its ultimate predator. Their newest weapon in this hidden war is an experimental procedure that implants human investigators with a Ghoul’s Kagune, giving them Ghoul powers and abilities. But both the procedure and the newly formed Qs Squad are untested. Will they become heroes…or monsters?!The CCG never thought that taking down the Rosewald family would be easy and, as expected, the casualties are piling up. Numbered among the wounded is Haise Sasaki, whose critical injuries leave him vulnerable when the past threatens to overwhelm him!

Very emotional volume

I was on the verge of tears during many parts of this volume. Just when you think Sui Ishida is going to go autopilot and give us a standard action-fest, he incorporates very human moments into them that tug at our heartstrings. Yes, these characters are fictional and the universe they reside in is not our own, but Ishida has found a way for the reader to connect with them to a point where we feel like we've known these characters our whole lives. Their journey, their pain, their feelings for one another reside in all of us as well. Art and storytelling are masterful. An amazing manga!
