As a Twilight fan, I loved it

I'm a fan of the Twilight series. Not for the romance, mind, but for the characters and the worldbuilding, mainly. When I first read Twilight, I really thought that the Cullens were a group of people that I'd really want to hang out with (aside from Rosalie, anyway). Just want to make it clear where I'm coming from.

I think Life and Death is a really great alternate-universe version of Twilight. The story plays out very, very close to the original story, but there are some differences that one can notice thanks to the gender-swapping. The relationship between Beau/Edythe seems much more equal than that between Bella/Edward. The piggy-back ride scene becomes pretty hilarious because Beau is apparently quite a bit taller than Edythe (the whole 'girl must be considerably shorter than guy' thing is tiresomely cliche, but meh). And the ending is totally different, which is really, really cool.

There are a lot of edits made for grammatical/writing reasons which Twilight could really benefit from, and which are part of what make L&D a better book, IMO. Overall, I loved the book. I'm a Twilight fan, and I love alternate universes, and L&D really is an AU rewrite of Twilight, so I guess it's no surprise that I loved this book.
