  • We Have Your Daughter:The Unsolved Murder of JonBenét Ramsey Twenty Years Later,
  • Emmy Award-winning investigative journalist Paula Woodward offers an unprecedented insider perspective on the twentieth anniversary of one of the most heinous, sensationalized, unsolved crimes in American history. Here for the first time, Woodward publishes exclusive police reports from the JB Murder Book Index which no other media have obtained. She examines conversations and information from all sides of those involved in the case. She documents media errors that led to many "urban myths". She shares information compiled during the twenty years she reported on the murder, including private conversations with law enforcement individuals directly involved in the case, their thoughts and dissections of what went wrong and right, and who they now believe is the killer. Woodward has included drawings by JonBenét, letters from her teachers, and photographs that show a normal, happy six-year-old whose life was cut short in such a horrible manner. She shares portions of John Ramsey's private journal, where he wrote of his torment and grief immediately after his daughter's murder. And she recounts personal conversations with JonBenét's mother prior to her death from cancer in 2006. JonBenét's brother Burke talks publicly about his sister's death and how it affected the family and his life.
  • We have Your Daughter is an extraordinary work of journalism, twenty years in the making. It depicts a family under siege with their guilt or innocence still openly questioned. This book allows readers to decide in this heartbreaking story - was it Ramsey or an unknown intruder?

Buy it, read it, write in the margins -a keeper!

Not only does this book include copies of the actual police reports and statements from family and others, it also includes bits of JonBenet. Her one and only report card, a photo of a turtle she made from a paper plate, other bits we have never seen.

I admit I do have a couple questions and see one thing I can't wrap my mind around so will try to confirm for myself, but half-way through the book with one big doubt is good odds for me here.

My biggest complaint is she avoids using names. A friend went with John to the basement. His name is FLEET WHITE. Someone supported Patsy when she left the den to see her daughter's body. Her name was BARB FERNIE. I don't know why she hesitated to use names but I wrote them in my copy to make it, imo, a better book.

This book is well worth the money. Buy it, really READ it, write in the margins. This Iis a keeper for sure and I think in years to come will be referenced as much as the Schiller/Brennan book.

What Happened To JonBenet Ramsey ???

With the recent television shows highlighting the 20 year anniversary of this unsolved murder, I wanted to know how this case went so wrong. I started researching books about the case and the book, We Have Your Daughter, by Paula Woodward, stood out to me. The author of this book, who was an investigative journalist for over 30 years, spent many years fact checking, collecting data from police reports, and conducted many interviews.

Twenty years ago, on December 26, 1996, six year old JonBenet Ramsey was found dead in the basement of her family home in Boulder, Colorado. The responding police, and soon the media, had only one theory and that was the parents must of killed her. T.V. shows and tabloid media were crushing us with what turned out to be false reports leaked by the police who were investigating the crime. The Boulder Police tried many ways to get close friends and members of the Ramsey family to break down and confess.

This book has helped me understand the political environment of Boulder, Colorado and the strained relationship between the local police, district attorney, and the Ramsey family. This is a great source of information on what happened and what didn't happen. The book also gives readers a closer look at the victim, JonBenet. Included are some of her art work, a school report card, and photos provided by her family. I will read this book again and have also purchased an extra copy for sharing.

A Must Read!

I have read many books on this case, but this is by far the best one I've ever read for many reasons. The information is presented in such an organized way that makes it very easy to follow what occurred from the very beginning. In addition, the author is completely unbiased and simply states the facts, something that is lacking in the recent media coverage and "projects" surrounding the 20th anniversary. If you're someone who is new to following this case, or simply wants a better understanding of it, please read this book. I hope many people read it to clear up the many misconceptions that are out there. What I loved most about this book was the little touches of JonBenet that were included. So many TV stations refer to her as "The Pageant Queen", which is such an injustice to this child. Paula truly did honor JonBenet with this book, complete with drawings, projects, family photos, and notes from her teachers. The addition of this makes the reality of this case that much more heartbreaking, but that is exactly what it is. I felt very informed before reading, but I now feel MUCH more informed. Thank you Paula Woodward for your hard work and dedication to getting the truth out and not sensationalizing. So well done!

The Sad Case of JonBenet

An excellent read! I have loosely followed this tragic case and read several early books written by various participants in the investigation. I really appreciated reading this author's unbiased, comprehensive review of the crime, the players, and the investigation. I was grateful for the clear presentation of the EVIDENCE along with interpretive perspectives from both the prosecution and the defense. This is, indeed, a horrible tragedy compounded by the circumstances. One can't help but feel sorry for the good law enforcement officers that lacked the experience, staff and resources needed to take on such a complex case. However, it boggles the mind how this investigation went from early crime scene processing errors to total disruption due to unprofessional behavior and arrogant attitudes.

The author also provides an in-depth look at the media coverage and how it influenced public perception AND the investigation. An investigative reporter, Woodward reviews the communication strategies of the Boulder Police Department, differences between official and unofficial statements to the press, and excellent examples of published reports compared to actual information sources including copies of police documentation.

Many thanks to Paula Woodward for providing this comprehensive review of the JonBenet Ramsey murder investigation twenty years later. We can only hope that a future DNA match will identify and bring to justice the monster that killed this precious little girl and give the Ramsey family the closure and peace they so deserve.

THE Authoratative Book on the Subject

This is probably the most accurate and authoritative book on the subject to date. The exhaustive research and attention to the details do justice not only to the terrible crime itself but to the surrounding events and drama, much of it generated by the media, which made the crime the sensational event that it became. It documents how media, inexperience and egos can get in the way of good solid police work.

If you follow the Jon Benet case at all, this is a must read. If you know nothing about it and could only read one book on it, this is it. Well done, Ms. Woodward.

What was this??? Not unbiased that's for sure

I thought this would be a proper journalistic book by a reporter in an unbiased fashion. Boy was I wrong since it's clearly more Ramsey propaganda. Burke had the pineapple and admittedly had the flashlight to sneak down and look at presents. Jonbenet had pineapple in her small intestine. Patsy most likely wrote the note. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to fit together what happened, especially since Burke was a weird kid who liked to poop on Jonbenets things. He did himself no favors smiling and laughing about Jonbenets death. This guys name should be Patrick Bateman! And come on if you believe and intruder really was there making no noise whatsoever, leaving absolutely no evidence behind and wrote a 3 page note inPatsys writing and using all her utensils then you must believe anything. This poor girl was killed by the brother and covered up by the parents prob bc they knew the kid likely needed some time in an institution. Shameful all around that this little angel will never see justice. And apparently John and Burke gave up looking for the "killer" a long time ago. What innocent family wouldn't rest until the killer was found??? Use the anniversary media attention to call for justice, but instead they both said they won't be giving any more interviews. The truth is right there and these 2 know they will never be charged, I guess they feel they are home free at this point.

Simply The Best

Woodward does a thorough job reviewing all sides of this case, and applies the same level of detail and fact presentation that mark her award winning career as one of Denver's top investigative journalists. You won't find a better, more researched account.

BOMBSHELLS!!! If you care about TRUTH AND THE JUSTICE SYSTEM!!!

I never write reviews but I feel compelled. This book is a MUST READ!!! I have read the Steve Thomas and James Kolar book and I wish I could get a refund for the junk it spews. Paula Woodward sticks to the facts, cites her sources thoroughly and includes never seen before documents and information. This book debunks all of the rumors and does so in a fashion that is factual and sourced with actual info and documents from the police department and DA office. If you care about this case and think you know what happened, then don't be "above" reading this book and decide for yourself.

Got through the first few chapters, and could tell ...

Got through the first few chapters, and could tell is was glossing over a lot of things. It seems biased towards the family and does not provide much in the way to keep me interested reading further.
