Winter House

I do love JD's winter books based in the fictional New England town of Addison. I enjoy the continuity of characters, places and event which are interwoven in the current novel from previous ones. JD is talented at describing characters, details of architecture, clothing, food, traditions and more. The brown velvet vintage dress was one of my favorite items detailed here......this story was good, and it does not have a definitive ending- maybe part two to come? Millie and Dean are likeable and we hope they end up together.They are still a 'new' couple but it seems promising! The only thing I didn't like was the sentence fragments in every single character's speech and description of events or actions, plus a few errors in grammar and diction. But this was a terrific Christmas story and hope for more each winter!

The product arrived in good condition. The story itself.... I'm about halfway through, mostly because I'm pressed for time, but also it just hasn't really grabbed me. It flip-flops between the perspectives of the two main characters, but the way it's done feels abrupt and the story itself hurried. It kind of feels like what the first, maybe the second draft of story when you're just getting it out of your head onto paper, not the final piece. :/

I purchased a used copy and gave it away after reading as much as I could tolerate. It lacked any dimension and was not enjoyable. It's a book about how/ways to share that we all should have learned a long time ago. And everything works out perfectly for these women, of course!
