GET the hell over here!” my buddy Carter Young yells from the corner, where he’s filling his plastic cup with beer. Some girl’s running her fingers through his blond hair with a fuck-me look in her eyes. I push from the couch and look at my watch, wondering where the hell Cassidy is. It’s Saturday night at eight o’clock, and my buddy Carter’s graduation party is in full swing. I can hardly believe I’m finally out of college. Four years felt like forever when I was going to classes, playing football, and trying to keep my head above water with my grades so my parents would stay off my ass. Looking back, even now, on the day we graduated, it seems like four years went by really fast. Strange how that happens. Carter widens his glassy blue eyes and hollers again. “Army! Come on, man. It’s our last party. Get your ass over here and toast with me.” I’ve known Carter since we were freshmen, when we were eyeing the same girl in one of our classes. I can’t even remember which class it was, but I remember what he said to me on the way out the door that morning. I’ll flip you for her. The son of a bitch won the coin toss, and we’ve been each other’s wingmen ever since. Carter calls me Army because he says Wyatt Armstrong is a pussy name. Girls hear Army and they’re all over me. Well, except Cassidy. She calls me Wyatt, always has. I pick up a plastic cup and hold it under the nozzle, then check my watch again while he pumps the keg. Come on, Cass. Get here already. “To freedom!” He crashes his cup into mine, and our beers splash everywhere before we tip our heads back and drain them. “Dude, stop looking at your phone. I’ve watched you pine over Cassidy for four years. She’ll get here when she gets here.” “Pine, my ass. She’s just a friend and you know it. I swear, if that fucker screws Cassidy over again and she misses this party, I’m going to kick the shit out of him.” My best friend, Cassidy Lowell, has been dating a douche bag for two years. Kyle Warner. Even his name is douchey. He graduated a year ago and works at a furniture store. Loser. “Dude, fess up. You’ve banged her, right?” Carter flashes one of his come-on-dude-you-can-trust-me smiles. “No, man. I told you. You don’t bone a girl you’ve known since you were five.” Cassidy’s too good of a friend to sleep with. I’ve known her since we were kids, when she moved into my neighborhood in Connecticut. Her sucky parents are never home, so over the years she’s stayed at our house probably more than her own. Hell, the truth is, we’ve slept together many times. The key word being slept, as in not fooled around. “That’s fucked up.” Carter stumbles backward and bumps into a hot blonde. “Hey, babe. Lemme ask you something,” he says with his face so close to hers he might as well kiss her. He lifts his cup and points his index finger at me. Carter’s blond hair is a shade lighter than the girl’s. He played football for two years, until he blew out his knee. But he’s still ripped, and the way the girl’s eyeing him, she loves it. He wraps his arm around her neck and I check my watch again. Goddamn it, Cassidy. I know Kyle’s screwing her over again. He’s always forgetting to pick her up or showing up late, but Cass is a girl, and they can be really stupid when it comes to guys. She forgives him and forgets, until the next time he treats her like she doesn’t matter. I’d like to punch his lights out, but Cass gets pissed when I tell her that. “If you were him”―Carter points to me again―“and you had a hot best friend, would you do her?” Read more

Reviews from the Heart Review

This book to me was a coming of age book.

What happens when you have to grow up over night? At the age of 22 Wyatt has been your typical college graduate. He is use to the parties and the girls. But all that changes in a night. His best friend is Cassidy, she has been the one female in his life, besides his twin sister and his mom, that has been there. They have had each other's backs since they can remember. The night of their graduation party brings this in full force when Cassidy realizes the man she has been with for the 2 years is nothing but a cheat. Cassidy's life is swirling out of control. Of course Wyatt is there for her but then the tables turn and Wyatt and Delilah (his twin) get horrific news concerning their parents. This makes Wyatt go from a young college grad to a man over night. What happens though when your life is thrown into a cluster? These 3 leave town and head to their second home at the beach. Their friends there all come together and for the summer become one. This is Wyatt and Delilah's family now.

Cassidy has only ever wanted one thing and that is to be loved. Her ex couldn't even do that. The only love she has ever felt is from Wyatt and his family. Her parents couldn't be bothered to care, always gone. When Wyatt's parents are in a horrible accident she does what she knows she has to, she will do anything to support Wyatt in his plans. But things between the two become weird. Feelings neither knew where there start to surface. Cass has always wanted to be like the girls Wyatt has liked. She has always had a crush on him but never acted on it because their friendship means to much. This summer changes everything though. She wants to explore her feeling for Wyatt but he pushes her away. Can these two over come fears? Or will Cassisdy do what has always been excepted of her and leave after the summer?

This was a cute story of two people finding themselves and each other. I would recommend this book to others. The author did a good job on her writing and her detail. I felt at times there was to much detail and the story became boring at times but besides that I found this story to be a quick easy read.

Emotional life and love story

Best friends Wyatt, commonly referred to as Army, and Cassidy have just graduated

from college and is now faced with the journey to adulthood; deciding where to live and what to do.

The same night of their graduation Wyatt and his twin sister, Delilah, are hit with the

tragic news that their parents were killed in an accident. Not only does Wyatt have to

face with dealing with this emotional news, he is faced with being responsible for his

sister and dealing with and deciding what to do with the family business.

In order to get some emotional distance from the recent tragedy, Wyatt takes his sister and Cassidy to

Harborisde, their summer vacation home. In the company of his summer friends, Wyatt begins to battle his own demons; learning how to become a responsible man, be a support system to his sister, and taking over the family business. Overburdened with his emotions and confusion over his apparent growing feelings for Cassidy, Wyatt begins to spiral, losing control. Cassidy and Wyatt's friends try to reach out to him before he self-destructs.

Wyatt learns that he has a strong support system and that he doesn't have to do it all alone. They say the best relationships begin with friendship. Learning about each other before love blooms or becomes apparent to you. However there is the fear that once you cross the line and it doesn't work out, you can never go back to being just friends. Wyatt slowly comes to terms with the fact that he does not have to be perfect to be deserving of love. Melissa Foster delivers another true to life story about love finding you when you least expect it and how love can break barriers once you are open to love.

Melissa Foster is fantastic!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

I have been wanting to read a book by Melissa Foster for awhile now and finally got the chance to read Catching Cassidy, the first book in the Harborside Nights Series. Now I know why I have seen Melissa Foster's name on most of the blogs I visit! Melissa's writing is incredible, I was hooked by chapter one. I fell in love with both Cassidy and Wyatt fast. There was a lot of will they? won't they? in this one. I also loved all the other characters, (I have a soft spot for Tristan) and I especially look forward to finding out what happens in the next book, Discovering Delilah, which focuses on Wyatt's twin sister. (There was a sneak peek of chapter one in the back of Catching Cassidy and it sounds fantastic!)

Catching Cassidy is an emotional roller coaster, and I definitely recommend it to anyone - especially anyone who has grown up with a best friend and has mixed feelings about them. You heart will pump throughout this book so make sure you have plenty of time to read it before bed or any of your preferred reading times. The romance will grip you in this novel.

I love this series and I look forward to reading every book! I am looking forward to being able to see how the characters progress behind the scenes of the other characters main stories.

Warning: This is a review for Catching Cassidy and Discovering Delilah

I was planning to review each book separately, but I ended up reviewing them as one book, because in my mind I saw them as one continuous story. I liked both stories, but I had a problem with Delilah's. This is the only spoil you will read about in this review and had to include it because I (and many other people) hate to read it. In the beginning of the book, Delilah loses her lesbian virginity to someone other than Ashley. It's described in detail and I honestly didn't want to read about it. I didn't see it as the experiment Delilah saw it. I kept waiting for her to chicken out but she actually went with it. Her brother almost followed her steps, but he was forced to stop before things got bad. That earned a strike for each of them.

I fell for the characters that appeared in these two books. I want to see them get their happy ending. The series is going to be heavy on the LGBT side of the things as half of the characters are either gay or bisexual. If you don't like that then stay away from the books.

After i got over the whole thing with Delilah and Janessa I started enjoying the book.

Discovering Delilah is mostly about Delilah getting overcoming the burden of her parents reaction and coming out of the closet. Her brother's book is mostly a we want to but can't be together because it will ruin our friendship drama filled novel. Delilah's story isn't filled with as much drama as her brother's.

During these two books I wasn't sure about what to think on Wyatt and Delilah's parents. In the end I was able to make peace with them as was Delilah.

I liked both stories equally and I will be recommending them to everyone who is okay with the heroine sleeping with someone other than the other heroine and the F/F scenes. I usually don't read F/F books, but I really liked this one.

This story is a magnitude of love, friendship, and family! Loved It

I always enjoy reading well developed characters, and Melissa Foster does just that!
Catching Cassidy is a real down to Earth book, everything is simply believable. As you read the words that come from each page, she paints a beautiful, but raw picture into your mind. You feel as though Cassidy and Wyatt are with you through every challenge they have to face.
I really loved the fact of the back story of the friendship Cassidy and Wyatt share. Their chemistry, emotions, and friendship is so grand. I personally have a friend in my life that I have known 28 years, but we have a connection that is hard to explain. I feel as though Cassidy and Wyatt have the same thing. It is like a sixth sense of sorts.
Wyatt and Delilah are fighting to gain who they are as they lay their parents to rest. Watching Wyatt come to gripes that life is about change, and the emotions he has to go through is realistic. Delilah has to overcome, and work through the raw emotions of the last look her parents gave her before they passed and Wyatt has to be there for his sister, and figure out what kind of man he is.
Ms. Foster really does a great job on the feelings, and raw things people have to face when we lose loved ones. It is hard sitting in an empty room/house when they were always there, and you will forever “hear” them in your mind. It sucks at the beginning, and it sucks as time moves on because you might forget the way they smell, or how their voice sounds but one thing for sure, you will never forget their love, or their sayings. Memories will always last a lifetime.
Cassidy, the long time friend, has her own challenges to face. She has to figure where her backbone is when it comes to her parents, and if love will be enough to hold her where she needs to be.
Within this read you will catch a snip of Cassidy’s food allergies. Melissa, you done a wonderful job bringing this to light, not a lot of people pull it off and you did. Thank you.
This story is a magnitude of love, friendship, and family. Family can be more than blood, Family can be a bond only true friends can understand.
Disclosure: I received this ARC from Tasty Book Tours, for an exchange of an honest review.

it should be one of the happiest times of their lives

It’s true what they say … you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. That couldn’t be more true for twins, Wyatt and Delilah. Following their college graduation, it should be one of the happiest times of their lives, but when their parents are killed in a car crash their worlds are quickly turned upside down. Dealing with their loss and taking over the family’s business quickly forces them to grow up. Thankfully their best friend, Cassidy, is there to help them out along the way.

Cassidy has been a staple in their lives for seventeen years. Through Wyatt’s crazy years full of a revolving door of girls and Delilah’s struggle dealing with her sexuality, Cassidy has been through it all with them. But it’s now when they need her the most. But Wyatt’s not sure if it’s the death of his parents or witnessing how Cassidy’s ex-boyfriend treated her that makes him start questioning his true feelings for his best friend. When his protectiveness over Cassidy turns to jealousy, he’s left wondering if it’s worth risking their friendship by potentially taking their relationship to a new level.

Love, loss, family and friendships … Spend the summer with Wyatt, Delilah, Cassidy and a whole group of amazing friends at Harborside as they share highs, lows, laughs and tears. But through it all, they always have each other’s backs.

Brilliant start to a new sub series of Love in Bloom

Catching Cassidy is the first book in the Harborside Nights NA Series (part of the Love in Bloom series by Melissa Foster). Twins Wyatt & Delilah Armstrong (cousins of Treat Braden's wife Max: Lovers at Heart, The Bradens of Weston, CO book 1) and their friend Cassidy Lowell graduate. At a party that evening Wyatt texts Cassidy and as she's been let down by her boyfriend Wyatt & Delilah go to pick her up. She hasn't got her key so goes to her boyfriend Kyle's workplace...only to find him cheating.
Wyatt takes her home with him and Dee but their evening is spoilt by a phone call with tragic news. This causes them to leave Connecticut and go to their family beach house in Harborside.
Wyatt and Cassidy have been friends for years, but the heartache each is dealing with brings them closer and they both realise that they are in love with the other...but due to friendship it takes a lot of angst for them to get together. Meanwhile, Delilah is having trouble coping with her parents deaths as she came out to them at her graduation so now blames herself for the accident.
At the house in Harborside we get to meet all the gang and they are very close friends and help each other through life's difficulties.
I am intrigued by them all, especially Tristan, he has such a big heart and deserves his HEA.
Melissa Foster has written a new genre with New Adult (which includes heterosexual, lesbian, gay and bisexual relationships) but it still has all the great characters, story line, angst, romance and a HEA that we all know and love. Plus we have characters that we recognise from other books popping in: Dane & Lacey (Sea of Love) appear in Catching Cassidy and in future books we have Evan Grant (Caden's son from Seaside Dreams) and Livi (Olivia from Megan's Way). Another great series to get immersed in...and now I want to go to Harborside. :)
