It wasn’t his style to flash his wealth, but tonight he needed to be anywhere but his Nassau, Bahamas, resort―and missing his commercial flight had just plain pissed him off. He owned upscale resorts all over the world, and he’d been featured on travel shows so many times that it turned his stomach to have to play those ridiculous media games. Most of the pomp and circumstance surrounding him had begun to irk him in ways that it never had before meeting Max Armstrong. It had been six months since he’d seen her standing in the lobby of his Nassau resort. Six months since his heart first thundered in a way that scared the shit out of him. He’d tried to ignore her, but it seemed that everywhere Treat went, she was destined to appear. Treat wasn’t a Neanderthal. He knew he had no claim on her. Hell, he hadn’t even given her any indication that he was attracted to her. But that hadn’t stopped his blood from boiling when he’d seen her with Justin Barr, one of his employees, and it hadn’t stopped him from acting like a prick when he’d seen her the next morning standing in front of the elevators at his resort, wearing the same clothes she’d had on the night before. Meeting Max had sent his heart and mind into a wind tunnel of regret. He was thirty-seven, and it was high time that he settled into life and cast away the fears he’d carried around his whole life due to his mother’s untimely death and his father’s grief. I’ll fall in love and she’ll be stolen away. I’ll be as heartbroken as Dad. If he’d had to look at the lobby of the Nassau resort for one more second, he might have torn the place down. As the plane landed, Treat knew that getting away from resorts altogether and spending a weekend with his father at his ranch was just what he needed. Being with his family would center him, and Hal Braden had always been a calming influence on Treat. After his mother passed away, it was his father who pulled him and his five siblings through those tumultuous years. His father had constantly pounded a strong work ethic and sense of loyalty into his and his four brothers’ heads, and that had enabled them all to be successful in their careers. His younger sister, Savannah, however, was the most ruthless businessperson of them all. The thought of his gorgeous, albeit cutthroat, sister brought a smile to his lips. He’d have to remember to call her while he was in town. WESTON, COLORADO was a small ranch town with dusty streets, too many cowboy hats, and a main drag that had been built to replicate the Wild West. It was everything Treat remembered as he sat in his rental Lexus SUV on Main Street. The traffic he was stuck in was not at all typical, and it wasn’t until he crawled around the next curve and saw the balloons and banners above the road announcing the twenty-second annual Indie Film Festival that he realized what weekend it was. Damn. He had forgotten about the festival. His cell phone rang, and he picked it up while he waited for the line of cars to turn off the main road toward the festival grounds. “I can’t believe you didn’t call me before you came out.” Savannah. “Hi, honey. I miss you, too.” “You big oaf.” She laughed. Savannah was a ballbusting entertainment attorney, but to Treat, she’d always be his baby sister. “I’m at the festival with a client. When will you get in?” “I’m here now. I’m on Main.” He hadn’t moved an inch in five minutes. “Yeah? Come to the festival and see me. I’ll call Dad and let him know. I’ll wait for you at the rear entrance.” Even though his sister had issued an order rather than posed a request, Treat smiled. Read more

  • PLEASE NOTE: This book has been rewritten as LOVERS AT HEART, REIMAGINED, now available on Amazon.
  • In LOVERS AT HEART... Handsome, wealthy resort owner Treat Braden is used to getting what he wants. When Max Armstrong walked into his life six months earlier, he saw right through the efficient and capable façade she wore like a shield, to the sweet, sensual woman who lay beneath. She sparked an unfamiliar desire in him for more than a one-night stand, leaving his heart reeling and his blood boiling. But one mistake caused her to turn away, and now, after six months of longing for the one woman he cannot have, he's going home to try to forget her all together. Max Armstrong has a successful career, a comfortable lifestyle, and she's never needed a man to help her find her way--until Treat Braden caught her attention at a wedding in Nassau, causing a surge of emotions too reminiscent of the painful past she'd spent years trying to forget. Max will do anything to avoid reliving that pain--including forgoing her toe-curling, heart-pounding desire for Treat. When a chance encounter turns into a night of intense passion, Treat realizes that the mistake he made six months earlier may cause him to lose Max completely. He will do everything within his power to win her heart forever--and Max is forced to face her hurtful past head on for the man she cannot help but love. A Love Felt Read

I read this novel for a blog tour and as a stand alone. Even without reading the series, the novel still made sense. The author did an excellent job supplying the characters back-stories within the current story. This novel had it all, I laughed, I cried, and I wanted to yell-- Keep your phone on!!! This novel will just keep your emotions spinning... A must read for romance readers.

Loved this book!

I was gifted this audio book by the author. Oh how I love this series, and Max and Treat just made me love it even more.

We saw the first hints of a Max/Treat match in Sisters in White. Treat is the super handsome, super single, super millionaire resort owner who officiated the marriage of Max's boss, Chaz and her friend and confidant, Kaylie White. There had been a horrible storm on the island where one of Treat's resorts is located and the minister was unable to get to the ceremony so Treat stepped in and did the deed for them. But I digress - - -

Max is super in her own right. She is the super-efficient assistant who pulls together her company's annual film festival, which has grown to be one of the biggest festivals in the country. Thanks, in part, to Max's super organizational skills and her dedication to her job. She rarely takes time for herself, but on that island trip to Chaz and Kaylie’s wedding, the minute she locks eyes with Treat her life changes. Not exactly for the better though.

As in any good romance, Treat and Max have issues that rear their ugly heads almost as soon as they realize their connection to each other. Treat's biggest fear has always kept him from letting himself fall for one woman, there is only one person who can help him understand and move beyond his fear, and that person just happens to be where Max is.

Max's one experience with a serious relationship did not end well and has left her with major trust issues, one of them being that she doesn't really even trust her own choices. She had let those feelings go when she met Treat, but he broke her heart with just one look and she has retreated back behind the protective walls she's built around her heart.

Max and Treat's story held me captive, keeping me wondering if they would ever be able to put their pasts behind them and finally share their lives, if it were even a possibility. Their story was so compelling that I spent most of the day yesterday with headphones attached because I could not stop listening. B.J. Harrison does an excellent job narrating all the characters. If you have not read this series you are truly missing out on something very special. I highly recommend the Love in Bloom series, and especially Max and Treat's book, Lovers at Heart.

Lovers at Heart is book #4 in the Love in Bloom series and is book #1 in the Branden series but can be read as a standalone.

Treat Braden is a businessman with a mission. Oldest son of Hal Braden, he feels the responsibility of looking out for his brothers and sister. He buys resorts all over the world and knows his way with woman but none of them managed to get under his skin like Max Armstrong.

Max is a successful woman with a job that she enjoys. She stays away from any kind of relationship after something that happened in the past.

I loved this book. I loved both Treat and Max. I couldn’t put the book down, it was an excellent book and a wonderful read.

Overall Lovers at Heart is well written story that makes the readers look for and want more of this series.

the attraction between two gorgeous people sets to spark and ignite

The author said to buckle up for an emotional ride and that is exactly what you get as the attraction between two gorgeous people sets to spark and ignite. You certainly feel the heat and intensity as you read their journey. I have to say that I am not a massive romance reader as the stories I have read in the past tend to be too shallow, Melissa Foster has changed my thoughts completely. Not only is this hot romance intense and a page turner it has depth to the story, the characters actually have real personalities and believable issues that you can possibly relate to.

The story follows the dashing Treat Braden, a wealthy resort owner, and the attractive Max Armstrong, an events manager, who fall heavily in love at first sight, although due to past inner issues cannot freely give themselves and wrongly second guess what each other is thinking or feeling. The grief from loosing his mother when he was younger still haunts Treat and he believes he is never going to allow himself to be hurt like that again. Can Max change all that? Max has also built walls around herself after a verbally and physically past relationship? Can Treat persuade her that he will always love and protect her?

Two passionate people, so in love with each other, both wanting to share their passion with each other, can they resolve their issues and let themselves find happiness with each other?

I enjoyed the way the author gives the thoughts from both perspectives throughout the story. I have to admit that I would have loved to be part of the Braden family, with the family bond between them all, headed by their father Hal. Yes they have their typical family squabbles but deep down knowing that they are all there for each other no matter what.

A thoroughly enjoyable, sensual and visual read. I was completely pulled into their 'will they, won't they' relationship and cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
