Terrible

Terrible ending. I can't believe I wasted my time on this book. Seriously. I want my 3 days back!!!! That was absurd.

This book was really good

It was a tad slow at first, which usually makes me quit reading a book, but it picked up and turned out awesome. I am hooked. I just purchased the next 2 in the series.

I wish I could write like Cassandra Clare

Reading over the reviews, I was surprised that people don't appreciate the quality of Cassandra's writing. I honestly don't care if a story is derived from other books. If the writing draws me in, and compels me, that is the most important thing. When a story is original, but not well written, it doesn't hold my interest. I find most contemporary authors lacking in the art of writing, while I feel that Cassandra takes great care to craft each sentence well. In some of her books, I can tell when she has rushed through a chapter, perhaps to meet a deadline.

Because I enjoy her prose, I can read her books over and over without getting bored. I can enjoy the moment, even though I know what is coming next.

I am currently attempting to write my first novel, and I find myself wishing I could write like Cassandra.

I recommend City of Bones, and the rest of the Mortal Instruments saga, as well as the Prequel series: The Infernal Devices.
