Description

“Sarah MacLean’s books are fierce .” — Julia Quinn, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Bridgerton series " Heartbreaker is MacLean in top form, a rip-roaring, sensual adventure that manages to turn a series of small rooms in coaching inns into sexy, exciting spaces...MacLean's latest is fun with a capital F, a spectacular, near-cinematic adventure with the stakes and enjoyment of an Indiana Jones movie... Heartbreaker is a full-hearted, deeply romantic reminder that romance novels can and should be dangerous and fun in equal measure." — Entertainment Weekly “Get ready for regency romance and badassery! MacLean returns to England, and this time pairs up an unlikely couple: a secret thief masquerading as a wallflower and a spoiled duke. Hijinks and heat ensue as they race across Britain to stop a wedding.” — Book Riot “Bestselling author Sarah MacLean's Regency romance novels are always worth getting excited about, and Heartbreaker is no different.” — Popsugar “Romance readers can always rely on Sarah MacLean to bring the summer heat.” — Bookish "...filled with intimate thoughts, delicious yearning, and many sighworthy romantic moments... Subplots regarding the Hell’s Belles’ clients and targets add great tension to the book, while the women’s friendship brings levity and humor. But it’s the quiet, vulnerable moments between the central couple, who embrace each other as true equals, that will ensnare reader’s hearts. Sublimely sensual and passionate.” — Kirkus Reviews “Everything MacLean does is perfectly on point.”xa0 — Booklist "MacLean gathered accolades for the first in her “Hell’s Belles” series ( LJ star–earner Bombshell ), and this book continues on that high note with a great deal of wit, heart, and heat. Smart writing, deep characterizations, and a zippy pace will keep readers immersed while MacLean’s deft hand at a number of romance tropes simply delights. An essential title from a key author, buy in droves and share with fans of Erica Ridley." — Library Journal (starred review) A life-long romance reader, Sarah MacLean wrote her first romance novel on a dare, and never looked back. She is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of romances translated into more than twenty languages, a romance columnist, and the co-host of the weekly romance novel podcast, Fated Mates. A graduate of Smith College and Harvard University, she lives in New York City.

Love this book!

I love this series.

I love the feminist attitudes of this group of women, and their drive to right the wrongs that large portions of society quietly let go during that time.

I love the interaction between Henry and Adelaide as they try to acheive their separate agendas, not realizing they're mostly on the same side!

How refreshing to see relationships that are equal. I certainly HOPE this was the case back then for some lucky couples, although I have my doubts. It is wonderful to consider that possibility though.

All in all a good second book in this series! Can't wait to read the next!

Road trip/forced proximity gold

4.75 stars

Are you a sucker for a road trip/forced proximity historical romance where the heroine knows how to fight and wears pants, and the hero is super stern but also completely gone for the heroine? Well, you’re in luck, because Sarah MacLean’s ‘Heartbreaker’ is all of that and more.

Adelaide Frampton is used to blending into the scenery. After a chance encounter places her in the ballrooms of Mayfair instead of the streets she was raised in, Adelaide uses her skills to help brides avoid the altar. When perennial perfectionist Henry, Duke of Clayborn, keeper of some pretty hardcore secrets, crosses her path, neither will ever be the same. Especially not when they’re thrown together in a race across Britain to stop a wedding.

Every time I crave an entertaining and emotionally satisfying read, I inevitably find my way to Sarah MacLean. Why, you ask? Because she is a master at her craft. The ways in which MacLean builds worlds and conflicts are as adept as they are rewarding. And the interactions and slow burning chemistry between Adelaide and Henry in this novel are pitch perfect. ‘Heartbreaker’ has all of the elements that I like, and even more that I didn’t even know I needed.

If you want to go on a reading adventure, pick up ‘Heartbreaker.’ And, if you haven’t done so already, start at the beginning of the Hell’s Belles series and read ‘Bombshell’ as well. (You can thank me later.)
